For those who are getting this error, is there anything else displayed as well as "Operation Failed"? A screenshot showing the error would be helpful.

I 'upgraded' to the latest version of the DSM (5.0-4528). I installed Java SE Embedded 7 version 1.7.0_71-0028.

Please try downloading and manually installing another package such as DVBLink Server. This will confirm whether this problem is specific to MinimServer or is caused by something else such as a network issue.

I just tried installing a file downloaded from the site you linked to (dvblink-server-synology-linux-88f628x-5.0.0.spk) and I got the same result ("Operation failed').
