problem installing minim server on Synology NAS DS212J)

Hello,

I'm running JAVA SE Embedded 8 on my NAS, but when trying to install the minim server through manually installing "MinimServer-0.8.2-arm.spk", I get the message "operation failed". I can't see to have missed a step though. Any recommendations?

Did you type this value or did you use the Browse button? If you typed it, try using the Browse buitton to locate the file on your computer.

Edit: It looks like you accidentally posted the same question in a duplicate thread, which I have just deleted.

I've never seen this and I don't know what could cause it. Perhaps this might happen if the MinimServer-0.8.2-arm.spk file file that you downloaded is corrupt. The correct size for this file is 1904640 bytes.

file size is the same. From synology I got the recommendation to try JAVA 7, which I'll try. Will inform how that worked (or not)

There might be a problem that is preventing the NAS from accessing the file on your computer. Could this be blocked by a firewall or an antivirus program? Can you try using another computer to do the manual install?

I have been trying to install (I am a first time user, well I am trying to be a user I guess) and I encountered the exact same issue.

If it is indeed the case that the NAS cannot access the file on the computer, is there a way to install from a copy of the file that is local to the NAS?

tried to no avail though. In parallel, I contacted Synology support and surprisingly, this is their response:

"Hello sir,
The DS212j don't support the Mimic server package. it was not developed for the DS212j platform, my test was yesterday in a DS214+. This is why it works, if your Nas could support this package, it will be available in the package center and you will not need a manual installation."

Does this ring a bell at all? would be very frustrating to say the least as I would not be able to use the NAS as intended.

The MinimServer-0.8.2-arm.spk package is not an official Synology package but it has always worked in the ARMv5 Synology models until now. What level of DSM do you have installed on the NAS?
