MinimServer 2 has now fully replaced MinimServer 0.8 and there is no longer a need for a separate forum to discuss MinimServer 2. I have therefore closed the MinimServer 2 forum for new threads. At present it is still possible to post replies to existing threads. No threads or posts in the MinimServer 2 forum will be deleted as these provide an important reference for previous discussions.

Does MinimServer 2 work on QTS 5.0?

I'm hesitant to upgrade my NAS to QTS 5.0 (from latest 4.5 release) before confirming that MinimServer will still run. Does anyone have any experience?

MinimServer 2: Problem setting license to standard

I'm trying to upgrade a Synology DS218+ to DSM 7 and I have to uninstall MinimServer and java 7. When I try to downgrade a full license the page says it was successful, but when I try to uninstall MinimServer it fails due to the license is set to full. How do I fix my mess?

Tagview playlist all directories

Hi,

I've upgraded to Minimserver 2, but now I can't get the settings right for a "All directories contents" playlist in Tagview when browsing my NAS folders (folderview).

I'm using Minimserver 2 on a Synology DS418 NAS, my Lumin App is on iPhone and iPad. Both don't show the "All Contents" option.
What am I missing?

Multi-disc album woes

Hi Simon,

I've read the section on Multidisc albums in the User Guide and several related threads, and unfortunately I'm finding the issue cryptic beyond my understanding.

My multi-disc albums are tagged using the same album name and integers in the disc number tag. Tracks are numbered consecutively throughout such entire albums; i.e. without re-starting at 1 in each disc. Some single disc albums have 1 in the disc number tag, and some have this field missing.

I don't want to rename albums by adding the [disc ] suffix. I appreciate that it may be the recommended and most robust option, but I don't like the idea of spending time on finding and manually renaming the relevant albums when there is a specific disc number tag available, as well as having anything inserted in the album name beyond the actual original name. If I were to use the files outside of the minimserver environment, I'd end up with aesthetically undesirable album names.

What I want is to:
- have multi-disc albums separated by disc
- preferably retain the possibility of having the entire album added to queue in one operation
- have single-disc albums displayed without any disc number information (in reference to having a mix of blanks and 1 values)

This gives me additional lines of >> in the track list. However, pressing play at >>2 makes the album start playing from the first song in Disc 1, rather than Disc 2. Also, I'd like to change the double greater-than sign with something else, e.g. "Disc ". How can these issues be amended?

I am a long-time Minim user on my QNAP NAS, running v.0.8.5.2. works great, no complaints.

just noticed that it is end-of-life and a V2 version is required. I use the #AudioQuality feature a lot, and also have a Favourites tag defined.

question: do I need the paid version of V2 for those tags?

Minimserver on Linux using Docker

I am an existing user of Minimserver 2 on RPi which performs well, however...

I am experimenting with Docker (Docker version 20.10.8, build 3967b7d provided via an OpenMediaVault NAS device) just to see what I can do with it and a Minimserver installation seemed a good idea as I can compare the Docker installation with the RPi version I know reasonably well.

I am following the instructions from:

From this I can do the following:

I have done this several times hence the image is up to date.

I then move on to:

root@CMHomeNAS1:~# docker create -v /srv/dev-disk-by-label-BigDisk/Music/iTunes/Music:/Music:ro --network host --name minimserver minimserver:2.0.18 -e TZ=Europe/London

Which errors with:

Unable to find image 'minimserver:2.0.18' locally
Error response from daemon: pull access denied for minimserver, repository does not exist or may require 'docker login': denied: requested access to the resource is denied

I cannot get any further with these instructions. What am I doing wrong please ?

IndexTag substitute name with character '('

I use the IndexTag substitution to show index names in German.
With Minimserver 2.0.18 update 199, MinimServer comes up with an error message saying:

Unexpected '(' in indexTags value

My setup for IndexTag had values like

Composer:Komponist (Klassik)
Group:Komposition (Klassik)

This IndexTag formatting still worked with update 197 used before. In the changelog and documentation I could not find anything that brackets would not be allowed.
However, just a minor issue for me, as I can replace brackets with another character.

MinimWatch 2 Fail

I am running the old MinimServer 0.8 but have upgraded to MinimWatch 2 on the path to upgrading to MinimServer 2. MinimWatch 2 has run OK for a few weeks but when I tried to open it to check settings before upgrading MinimServer I found a grey icon in the tray. Checking the log I noted a subnet address 10.252.1.237. I have little knowledge about such things and am unsure if this appears correct.
MinimServer is installed on my Melco N1 (not EX) which I use as a UPnP server to my dCS equipment.
I checked that Java was correctly installed and was prompted to install upgrade 301 (64bit). In so doing I was informed by the installer that an old version of Java had been found and should be removed. This was done and but now the grey MinimWatch icon has disappeared so trying to open MinimWatch produces no observable activity. Windows program/app list confirms the upgraded Java as being installed.

I have also tried rebooting the whole system with no result.

I am unable to uninstall Minimwatch 2 as Windows says it is running. However Task Manager says that I have no programs running. However checking Task Manager in detailed view I cannot see MinimWatch at all.

I also checked Norton and Windows Defender to see if they are blocking MinimWatch. Like Task Manager they show no reference to MinimWatch at all so I am unable to select access permission for it. However, as pointed out Win10 shows the app as installed.

Minimserver discovery problem

i notice for of a time now, sometimes when starting up the nas, minimserver stays invisible at bubbleds and a rescan through the webbrowser is needed to make it visible again. I use a asustor as3102t.

Sometimes i have the same with minimwatch staying Grey at startup...on a Windows 10 pc. Restarting minimserver mostly solved this.

MinimServer 2 scripting DSM 7

Hello all

I recently updated DSM to version 7 as recommended by Synology. (This is not a beta version.) So (as very well described on the MinimServer website) I had to uninstall MinimServer and Java and reinstall MinimServer, which apparently now includes the Java runtime. Now the mscript command fails to run and outputs the following error message:

The Java installation seems to be corrupted. Please reinstall the Java Synology package.

This seems to confirm that there is no more "standalone" Java installed on my DSM.

How can I run scripts in the new version of MinimServer?

Music Search?

I scanned the feature list, and didn't see this mentioned.

It's pretty much an essential requirement for me, both Twonkymedia and Asset support this, so I already have alternative options.

If it does support this, is there any configuration options available? The key problem with both the above servers is when you search, it often doesn't really help, it's single level results. So for example.

I want to listen to a Deep Purple album, I can Search by Deep Purple, and my client software (Heos, BubbleDLNA etc) will show me the results, The results under Artists is just 1: Deep Purple. Clicking that gives me a large list of Deep Purple Tracks.

Selecting Albums doesn't give me a list of Deep Purple albums, it give me any album that has "Deep Purple" in the title. Selecting Tracks gives me a list of tracks with Deep Purple in the title.

As you can see, search on both the above server software, when it comes to Album search is a bit flawed. Is this something MinimServer (if it does search at all), does any better?

Album Artwork Missing

I have been using Synology Media Server with my Synology NAS DS220+ and a Cambridge Audio CXN V2. I found that I could not see any content in the Media Library section of the Stream Magic App. Cambridge Audio suggested I install MinimServer on my NAS which I did and now I can see my Media Library and can select from Albums, Items, Artist, Date, Genre, All Artists, Composer, Folder View.
However, not all of the Album Artwork is visible.

My music library of 271 Albums was copied from the Music Media folder on my Mac and if I look in that folder on my Mac the album artwork is visible for all the albums. Note these are albums that are CDs that I ripped onto my Mac and whilst I can also use AirPlay to play to the CXN, I wanted a stand alone playing capability from the front panel of the CXN for my wife to use without the need for my Mac or iPhone to be needed.

I have MinimWatch installed and activated the Trial Licence but the only change I have made to the default configuration is to set indexArtwork=Auto in Properties>Advanced

Is there something else I need to do so that the artwork for all my albums is displayed?

Minimserver & Minimwatch both stopped working

Hello have been running Minserver and Minimwatch 2.0.18 on my Mac os big Sur for a while with everything was working properly but for some reason it just stopped and I now cannot connect to the music directory on my Synology nas Model DS218 play, it says the content directory path isn’t absolute after reading various posts I tried a few things and I have now reinstalled both programs which are now both mounted when I am trying to add my nas music directory it it asks me to select the content directory but I cannot find in my guest/users or macintosh hd so have to manually input the text, this is and always has been /volume1/music which it still is in the music properties folder of the nas but something has changed as it now not says it is not a valid file, minimwatch is now also greyed out with none of the options available so i don’t think its connecting to minimserver though I am not sure if i need both to be running ?
I have checked the firewall options and both are accepting incoming connections I can still access minimserver on my iOS devices though and play music through the Cambridge audio streaming app, any help greatly appriciated i have attached the minimwatch log if that helps
