I've been an audiophile far longer than I've been writing this particular app. I run the largest audiophile community in Romania, I review gear, and like most people reading this I've spent years getting a digital front end to a place I'm happy with. Separately, my day job is running a small iOS development studio.

For a long time those two things stayed in separate boxes. What finally brought them together was the frustration I suspect a lot of you know well: the hardware kept getting better, and the app I held in my hand to control it didn't. I'd sit down with a system I'd spent years assembling and drive it with something slow, that lost my place the moment I picked up a different device, that couldn't play half my DSD library locally, and that dropped the radio stations I actually listen to.

At some point it stopped making sense to keep complaining about it when writing iOS apps is literally what I do for a living. So I built the control point I wanted for myself. It's called Serento, it runs on iPhone, iPad and Mac, and it's now on the App Store.

The one principle I refused to compromise on: it stays out of the audio path. Serento finds your server and your renderer, tells them to talk to each other directly, and steps aside. It never proxies the stream and it never modifies your files - corrections and artwork layer on top, inside the app, never written back to your library.

What's in it:

- UPnP AV and OpenHome, using the renderer's own queue and Radio service where supported
- Native DSD up to DSD512 out to the streamer, DoP fallback for DACs that need it, PCM to 32/768, gapless

I use jriver Media Center for only one reason: compute and integrate DR into my audio files.

I paid for Jriver 30, and as I don't need more, never upgraded. But here is the issue: with Mac 26 Tahoe, the app crashes very badly at start. No way I can launch it.

Went onto the Jriver forum, which is the only way to get help. Wrote my problem. A guy who says is admin but is not working for jriver gave me a stupid advice, which did not work. So I posted my crash log. That was over a week ago.

And then silent, no one cares about my problem.

But, being retired I have the time to try to squeeze the last drops of juice from this feature. So inevitably, a couple of questions...
1) The way I want to incorporate this feature is not to have to compile a lot of text for each album, but inside each album's directory I will place a file with the following information:

I have to press a link a second time to access the www and Wiki.

Is there a simple way to write in the address in the booklet file so that I go there on first pressing. Not a big issue, but cherry on the cake.

2) Another little feature, which I suspect may not be easily possible is to change the coding a little bit so that the booklet file resides in the artist directory and not the CD subdirectory. This would mean that I have only to put in my booklet file in once, and not tuck it is every CD directory when the artist has a number of recordings.

Any ideas gratefully received. I hope my stumbling ignorance may be of interest to others who are tempted to "have a go".

since a few weeks, the same problem happens.

I switch on my Klimax.

And then it takes between 10 to 15 minutes before

- the klimax is recognized
- it plays music

What can be the issue? How come it used to be switched on instantaneously, and now I need to wait 10-15 minutes before being able to play my music.

For info:

1) the klimax has its IP adrdess, so not a network issue

since a few weeks, the same problem happens.

I switch on my Klimax.

And then it takes between 10 to 15 minutes before

- the klimax is recognized
- it plays music

What can be the issue? How come it used to be switched on instantaneously, and now I need to wait 10-15 minutes before being able to play my music.

For info:

1) the klimax has its IP adrdess, so not a network issue
2) I have a yamaha network player which is playing without issue, so not an issue with my router
