For a long time those two things stayed in separate boxes. What finally brought them together was the frustration I suspect a lot of you know well: the hardware kept getting better, and the app I held in my hand to control it didn't. I'd sit down with a system I'd spent years assembling and drive it with something slow, that lost my place the moment I picked up a different device, that couldn't play half my DSD library locally, and that dropped the radio stations I actually listen to.

At some point it stopped making sense to keep complaining about it when writing iOS apps is literally what I do for a living. So I built the control point I wanted for myself. It's called Serento, it runs on iPhone, iPad and Mac, and it's now on the App Store.

The one principle I refused to compromise on: it stays out of the audio path. Serento finds your server and your renderer, tells them to talk to each other directly, and steps aside. It never proxies the stream and it never modifies your files - corrections and artwork layer on top, inside the app, never written back to your library.

What's in it:

- UPnP AV and OpenHome, using the renderer's own queue and Radio service where supported

It does this for all eight WMA files in that folder.

My goal is to have a category "Radio" or even better a certain radio station in the top navigation of Bubbleupnp, on the same level as Genre, Artist, Composer etc.

I have tried many things but so far I always have to go in BubbleUpnp this way: Saved Playlists -> Radio -> the respective radio station.

The NAS has a Tailscale address. In the Lumin app's MinimServer remote access settings, I've set the Remote Host to the same address.
The Minimserver appears in Lumin as "remote connected," but is greyed out, and nothing can be browsed or played.

I checked that direct http access works from the same phone and the DMS's firewall rules allow the Tailscale subnet and the required port. I changed ohnet.subnet to blank but there was no improvement.

I found an older thread on this forum ("Minimserver offline in Lumin app, but still accessible") where it was explained that control points maintain their belief that MinimServer is online via periodic UPnP "alive" multicast messages, and that if those are blocked, the app shows the server as offline after 30–60 minutes even though it's genuinely reachable.

I guess that this is my problem too but is there a way around this or a way to use the lumin app in location B while the minimserver and the NAS are in location A?]]>

The "Error -MinimStreamer: transcode setting '*:L16' requires a converter"
appeared when I logged into my QNAP HS-264 this morning.

I'm not aware of anything that has changed from the previous day when every thing was working ok with no error messages.

Any help appreciated.

Browsing by album on my control point (BubbleUPnP on Android or Luminplayer) shows 13 separate album entries, each with identical cover art, instead of a single merged album.

I've set mergeFolderAlbums=true (confirmed via Properties > Server tab in the web config, showing true), and also set startupScan=full to rule out a stale cache, then did a full Restart + Rescan. The split persists.

For this example, I've verified the following, both via Mp3tag (selecting all 13 tracks across the composer folders at once and checking that fields don't show blank/multiple-values) and via a writeAllTags dump:

ALBUM is identical across all 13 tracks: Airs de cour du 17ème français (confirmed as a single distinct value in the writeAllTags output)
ALBUMARTIST is identical: Jacobs (also a single distinct value in the writeAllTags output)
ARTIST is identical across the visible tracks in Mp3tag: René Jacobs, Concerto Vocale
DISCNUMBER is 1 on all 13 tracks
No folder name match filters (no ['...'] suffixes) on any of the composer folders
No DISCSUBTITLE tags, no [part] in any folder name

As far as I can tell from the documented merge conditions (matching Album name, matching AlbumArtist, matching folder filter), this should merge — but it isn't, and this same pattern repeats across other multi-composer anthologies in my library, not just this one disc. Is there something about composer-per-folder library structures specifically that interferes with mergeFolderAlbums, or some other condition not covered in the user guide? Happy to share the relevant lines from the writeAllTags output or a Debug/Trace-level log excerpt if that would help pin it down.

I used systemctl to restart the server and when it restarted the error has gone, but so has all my server configuration and it's now running in Started mode, which is useless to me. It seems to have run an update, which I did not ask it to do, which it offered me on the admin screen on my last startup which has now invalidated my license.

My license page is now showing:

You are using MinimServer Starter Edition. This version of MinimServer is designed to be easy to use with limited configuration options. It does not require a license and does not expire.

I deliberately didn't extend the license at the end of the first year as I didn't need MinimStreamer or any of the newer features; now it seems to have force updated itself.

"Minimserver [67babfd1] Not licensed for this device; resetting to Starter Edition"

I used systemctl to restart the server and when it restarted the error has gone, but so has all my server configuration and it's now running in Started mode, which is useless to me. It seems to have run an update, which I did not ask it to do, which it offered me on the admin screen on my last startup which has now invalidated my license.

My license page is now showing:

Your trial license expired on 24 October 2024 15:44:12 BST

I deliberately didn't extend the license at the end of the first year as I didn't need MinimStreamer or any of the newer features; now it seems to have force updated itself.

In my log file, I found an entry I can't explain:

applied sort value is 'Shiokawa, Yuuko'; conflicting sort value is 'Schiff, András'"

When I edit the album with Songkong, I only see András Schiff, regardless of the role.
With the LINN App I cannot find this album with Albumartist = Andras Schiff but only as an artist = Andras Schiff.
Minimserver is installed on a QNAP NAS (HS-264)
Controllpoint is a iPAD with LINN-App installed.

Attached are the simple log, the detailed log, my configuration, and two excerpts from the Songkong editor.
