Turning on/off replaygain for playlists.

Maybe someone has some experience with this. I couldn't find any references. I have a library containing a mixture of formats, bit rates and sampling rates, maintained using iTunes. I mainly use BubbleUPnP for control and the renderer is a WiiM, with a BubbleUPNP Server proxy, in order to take advantage of OpenHome features. Many of these tracks are arranged into playlists which I use often, but as you can imagine, the volume levels often vary widely, which is unwanted.

All the tracks in the playlists have had track replaygain applied, using foobar2000, and I have been using another feature of BubbleUPnP Server to apply the replaygain when required. This feature is causing me some problems, so I am experimenting with MinimServer/Streamer as a substitute. I have the transcoding and replaygain working with these parameters:-

The problem is that I don't want replaygain on when not playing playlists. It would cause havoc with albums where some tracks are in playlists. I can use the configuration website to change profiles from transcoding/replaygain to no transcoding, but I then need to restart the server. The config website has restart buttons, but they seem to be permanently greyed out. I can use MinimWatch to restart, but this requires being at a PC. I would like to restart from a webpage, preferably the same one that I used to change the profile.

I also use OpenMediaVault to manage the server, which gives me the option to remotely submit stored linux scripts or console commands via the OMV webpage. Maybe there is a command which can change the profile, and one which can restart the server? That would be cool.

Any suggestions welcome.

I've just tried this scenario, and when applying transcoding settings a restart isn't required, but you will need to perform a reload in BubbleUPnP (via the vertical ellipsis in the top right hand corner).

There's the MinimServer mscript command line tool.

You could trigger the execution of these scripts from the playback of particular songs by monitoring the recently played log, but I'm not sure that's worth the effort.

Changing the profile automatically restarts MinimServer.

The Restart buttons on the configuration website properties pages become active when you change a property that requires a restart.

I was just starting to check this out. I might use it for a regular overnight reset to "no-transcoding" in case I forget to turn it off.
