Using webp files
Hi Simon. I'm using a full MinimServer license, version 272, on a QNAP. A while back I created an indexArtwork folder and deposited jpg and png files to be used for the Album Artist and they also work for Track Artist. (Rush.jpg, Roxy Music.png, etc). They are not in a subdirectory like is required for Record Label, Composer, etc. So far so good.
Yesterday I tried using the recent ability to support *.webp files. I saved Jethro Tull.webp and Jerry Garcia.webp into the indexArtwork folder and did a rescan. Those artist thumbnails are now blank (white). What am I doing wrong or misunderstanding? Mike |

RE: Using webp files
Which control point are you using? Not all control points support webp images.
BubbleUPnP supports webp images. Can you try this as a test? |

RE: Using webp files
I'm using the Linn App. (I don't think they ever gave it a name like they did Kinsky or Kazoo etc)
I'll pass on BubbleDS. I can always find a suitable png or jpg image. If you have further thoughts on why the Linn App isn't working I would like to hear it. |

RE: Using webp files
I tried the Linn app with my test images and it seems to be working. Please attach one of your images (compressed) to a forum post so that I can investigate further.

RE: Using webp files
I did an online conversion jpg to webp for one artist and did a rescan. It showed up in LUMIN. Fidata, 8player, mConnect and the CA StreamMagic app.
It didn’t show up in Linn nor in Kazoo. |

RE: Using webp files
Hi Simon. Attached is an example zip file of a webp file which is not working in the Linn app. Mike

RE: Using webp files
Thanks for this. This image is an animated image containing a VP8X header. (Static images contain a VP8 or VP8L header.) This is probably why the Linn app isn't rendering it correctly.

RE: Using webp files
Is there a way to see if a webp file is containing a VP8X header?
I downloaded another webp file "Paul Weller" Paul Weller.zip (Size: 315.37 KB / Downloads: 1)
and see the same result. This file is not showing up in both Linn apps, no problem with Lumin, Fidata, etc. |

RE: Using webp files
This image has a VP8 header, checked using a text/hex editor.

RE: Using webp files
Is there a difference between the "Paul Weller" image and your test images?
Since your test webp file images show up in the linn apps there must a reason they don’t show up in my case. Remarkable is that in both Linn apps the Webp picture is not replaced by the custom Artist icon, Kazoo shows the generic (musical note) icon and the Linn app shows no picture at all (black) |
