Minimserver is installed on my NAS. Stuck at next step
Newbie here. I'm considering MinimServer as an alternative to LMS (Lyrion Music Server) as it may have more options for searching my music library's metadata.
My current setup has PiCorePlayer as a server on one RPi which serves music files from my NAS. The player instance is a second Rpi running Squeezelite. This player connects to my DAC via I2S NAS, server and player all connected via ethernet. Playback is controlled via a web browser on an iPad pointing to the LMS web page. I have installed MinimServer on my Synology NAS. MS has scanned the music files stored on the NAS, but now I need Renderer software to play back my music files via UPNP. Moode and Volumio on RPi would seem to be options for the renderer. Am I on the right track? Thanks in advance. |

RE: Minimserver is installed on my NAS. Stuck at next step
RoPieee on rpi is an option, it’s a great upnp renderer.
You need a upnp control app on your smartphone/tablet too, like Bubbleupnp on Android or MConnect Player on Apple/Android (there are other apps but this is just to start). The app will read the Minimserver library and let you play to the renderer. Another option is to install Remote Music Libraries plugin in LMS and enable upnp/DLNA client in its configuration menu, then LMS will be able to read Minimserver library |

I've heard of RoPieee in the context of a Roon endpoint but it does other things too. I will download some images of first Ropieee and perhaps Moode to put on a microSD card for my spare RPi, to try get a handle on this upnp renderer thing. Really my streaming setup via LMS is perfectly OK for my needs - but I'd like to understand the alternatives a bit better. I prefer to use open-source software if possible rather than using some proprietary interface. |
