Musichi Tagger still available ?
Good afternoon

I am using Musichi Tagger since years on my laptop equiped with windows 10 OS.
It is a very useful tool for the tagging of classical music audio files.

This 12 years old laptop will need to be replaced soon and the next will have Windows 11.
Can we still install Musichi tagger ? It seems the software is not maintained anymore Sad

Regards

RE: Musichi Tagger still available ?
It's been about a year or two since I heard about this program.
Even then it seemed unmaintained.
I tried to contact the author with the intention
of purchasing a license - unfortunately there was no response...

In my opinion, the program hasn't been distributed or supported for several years.
I used it for a while and was happy with it.
I've since switched:
I use "Songkong" as my default tagger: https://www.jthink.net/songkong/
I also use "mp3tag" as a supplement: https://www.mp3tag.de/
In my opinion, both programs are worth testing, especially Songkong.

Both programs are continuously being developed.

RE: Musichi Tagger still available ?
Thanks, the strength of Musichi tagger was the long list of compositions and composer. All my 3000 albums of classical music are tagged with Musichi. I can’t Even imagine using an other tagger from now, this would likely introduce discrepancies in my album collection and in the way they are recognized by Minimserver.

Yes, the whole transition won't be seamless. I had the same issue, but now I'm very convinced by Songkong; Songkong has many key strengths - for example:
The developer has studied Minimserver very closely and knows Minimserver's programming logic very well, and Songkong is tailored to it.
You can have Songkong first perform an "inventory" (without any physical changes) of all the albums you want to manage. The results are a report.
Songkong can automatically compare with online music databases (e.g., Musicbrainz). The resulting changes can be applied immediately or explicitly approved.
Before each change run, you can set the "preview only" option and only then have the changes implemented.
All changes can be undone.
And many more options.

Simply install the free version - the essential options are already available, and you'll get a very good impression of Songkong's capabilities.
