Not working on Synology
Minimserver refuses to start on a Synology DS918+ running DSM 7.1.1-42962 Update 9. I just get "Failed to run the package service". It will not allow me to repair or uninstall - it says the license needs to be deactivated before uninstalling but how can I do that when I cannot access the app?

Minimserver used to work fine on this NAS, maybe some update has affected it, but I recently paid for a renewal of Minimserver which is useless to me ...

I noticed this in the Synology log:-

MinimServer start error: java.lang.UnsupportedClassVersionError: com/minimserver/ServerLauncher has been compiled by a more recent version of the Java Runtime (class file version 61.0), this version of the Java Runtime only recognizes class file versions up to 58.0.

Hoe do I fix this?

RE: Not working on Synology
This is caused by a problem in MinimServer update 260. This problem is fixed in update 263. To install update 263, do the following:

1) In Synology DSM File Manager, open the MinimServer shared folder and select the appData subfolder
2) Delete the minimserver.config file. Do not delete any other files. This step enables you to uninstall MinimServer without deactivating your full license.
3) From DSM Package Center, uninstall MinimServer, making sure you select the option to backup the configuration files.
4) From DSM Package Center, install MinimServer

MinimServer should now be up and running on update 263. My apologies for the inconvenience.

Many thanks for the quick response ... all working now! Smile
