Further tidying the "booklet pdf" feature
I wonder if somebody can help me - I am not the brightest bunny when it comes to coding.....
But, with the help of Stefano and Simbun I have installed this feature on my system, and it looks brilliant. This has been recently discussed again on the the thread "The control app thread" as Lumin has introduced this compatibility. It seems to be the answer to a number of prayers. Well done all concerned, including of course Simon for making the feature.. But, being retired I have the time to try to squeeze the last drops of juice from this feature. So inevitably, a couple of questions... 1) The way I want to incorporate this feature is not to have to compile a lot of text for each album, but inside each album's directory I will place a file with the following information: -------------------------------------------------- Abderrahamane Abdelli Wiki https://www.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abderrahmane_Abdelli Discogs https://www.discogs.com/search?q=Abderra...i&type=all -------------------------------------------------- So each booklet file will contain information on the artist, not the actual CD. To an amateur musicologist I can find out all about him, and his other releases, as well as all manner information about the recording. Now this works fine, and when I press the booklet.pdf option in the metadata list, it opens as above with live links to Wiki and Discogs. The only problem is that on first pressing, all I get is a repeat showing of my booklet file. The address shown is the one of my Melco (NAS) in my network. I have to press a link a second time to access the www and Wiki. Is there a simple way to write in the address in the booklet file so that I go there on first pressing. Not a big issue, but cherry on the cake. 2) Another little feature, which I suspect may not be easily possible is to change the coding a little bit so that the booklet file resides in the artist directory and not the CD subdirectory. This would mean that I have only to put in my booklet file in once, and not tuck it is every CD directory when the artist has a number of recordings. Any ideas gratefully received. I hope my stumbling ignorance may be of interest to others who are tempted to "have a go". Thanks Donuk Sunny Downtown York |

It sounds like these links are not "live links" but pictorial representations of live links created by the LUMIN app. Quote:Another little feature, which I suspect may not be easily possible is to change the coding a little bit so that the booklet file resides in the artist directory and not the CD subdirectory. MinimServer doesn't have a concept of an artist directory. MinimServer only looks at directories that contain audio files and playlist files and doesn't look at the contents of any other directories. It is your choice how you group directories containing audio files and playlist files into a higher-level directory structure. You can choose to group them as artist > album but MinimServer doesn't do any special processing based on this grouping. |

RE: Further tidying the "booklet pdf" feature
I'm not proud of this one (though I don't like the PDF route either really), but given Lumin only presents a single link (the first) I can't think of a better way.
If you're happy for the Discogs search to use the value from the AlbumArtist tag, then one option would be to create a dummy album (one silent short track) for each albumartist to hold the Wikipedia URL; for example: Track 01.01 is populated with the core tags (relevant to David Bowie) in addition to a tag called wiki_url that holds "https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Bowie". Then in MinimServer we use the configuration: Code: itemtags: Comment, wiki_url If we view the PDF Booklet from the .Wikipedia album we're taken to Wikipedia, whilst any of the other albums will take us to Discogs. You'll probably want some way to filter all these out, but I won't spend any more time thinking about it for now ;-) |

I created a PDF file containing the two links. When I select the PDF booklet in the LUMIN app, I see the document with live links and clicking on the first link shows the Wikipedia page. |

RE: Further tidying the "booklet pdf" feature
Interesting, Simon. Not what happens on my iPad. When I open the booklet, and hit on a link it gives me another copy of the open booklet. When I hit on a link again I am taken to the specified www page.
Perhaps is is something to do with the default browser which is safari on my iPad. Curious Donuk PS. Just tried making Chrome default browser. Still the same result…… |

I tried it on my iPad and I see the same as you. For some reason the LUMIN app or Safari is reloading the PDF page from MinimServer when you first select the link. My first test (no page reload) was on Android.
