Please post your .m3u file as a file attachment. There might be some issue with the file that can't be seen when you copy the text and paste it inline.

Can you explain more about the melco as a renderer please.
In my system I have melco as the server (running minimserver) and the Naim NDS as the renderer. For the additional radios I have another copy of Minimserver on a NAS as I wanted to keep processing on the melco to a minimum

RE: Adding radio to Naim App
As I suspected, the file is corrupt. It starts with CR LF before #EXTM3U. An extended m3u playlist must start with #EXTM3U with no preceding characters. As this file starts with CR LF #EXTM3U, it is processed as a regular m3u playlist with all the other #EXT lines treated as comments.

In addition, each line ends with CR LF. If you are using this file on a NAS (running Linux), each line must end with LF and no CR. As things stand, the CR is treated as part of the URL and this is why the NDS is unable to play the streams.

I have two Melcos (N1A and N1Z), The N1A is the server and my N1Z is the renderer, playing through a USB-attached dCS Rossini. This separates file system reading and library browsing from audio rendering, enabling the N1Z renderer to produce better sound quality.

With your setup I would expect playing radio streams from MinimServer on the Melco to produce better sound quality than playing them from MinimServer on a NAS. This is because the Melco is designed to sound good in an audio system and a NAS is designed for general-purpose processing and storage. Playing radio streams from the Melco should should not increase the processing load on the Melco unless you are playing local files and radio streams at the same time. The only way to find out for sure is try it both ways and compare.

Thanks for finding that. Comes of not knowing the structure of the file.
I'll try and correct in the morning.
Once I get it going from the NAS I'll look at the Melco. As it's only for internet radio, the melco serves the local music, quality is not so high anyway.

RE: Adding radio to Naim App
Hi
I corrected and simplified the file and it tests fine on VLC so I believe it's now formed correctly with the correct url, however my NAIM NDS still says cant open stream after at least trying to connect.
Any more ideas you have would be helpful but I've also opened this with NAIM in case there is something odd in their processing. I'll also go back to the minimstreamer system page to see if there are any odd settings there

I have made some progress. This file has a known MP3 station and that connects and plays correctly on the NDS.
I added the BBC Radio 4 as a next line and that fails to connect and not play.

I also tried transcode *:wav24 to see if that helped but didn't make any difference

RE: Adding radio to Naim App
The line

#EXTINF:-1,BBC - Radio 4

needs to be

#EXTINF:-1,[R4] BBC - Radio 4

Without a stream ID this stream is not routed via MinimStreamer.

OK thanks. I'll try this in the morning.

Formatting the m3u file just right seems a bit tricky

RE: Adding radio to Naim App
MinimServer implements the standard specification for extended M3U with the addition of the [ ] syntax for MinimStreamer streams. The CR LF issues are tricky and I will think about whether I can do something about this.

RE: Adding radio to Naim App
I have downloaded notepad++ and this helps as there is a UNIX EOL option that automatically sets EOL to LF
