How to configure contentDir for a Nagra Streamer
I have a Nagra Streamer and trying to configure the contentDir setting so MinimServer will access a USB SSD drive plugged into the Nagra Streamer's USB port.
M-Control HD works fine using the USB SSD drive on the Nagra Streamer to play content. Alternatively, JPlay works fine with MinimServer running on a Mac mini to play content when the drive is connected to the Mac mini, but I haven't figured out the contentDir setting for MinimServer to use the USB SSD drive plugged into the Nagra Streamer (IP: 192.168.1.253). I tried /192.168.1.253/NAS, but that didn't work. NAS is the volume name of the SSD drive. Does anyone know how to do this? Thanks, Neil |

RE: How to configure contentDir for a Nagra Streamer
Are you running MinimServer on the Mac mini? If so, the library needs to be accessible from the Mac mini as a shared network volume that is visible in Finder. I think it is unlikely that the Nagra streamer is able to support this for a USB-attached drive.

RE: How to configure contentDir for a Nagra Streamer
Thanks for the quick reply. Yes, Minimserver is on my Mac mini and I haven’t found a way to access the Nagra’s USB drive via the finder yet. I do have the question into Nagra for more information, as I know M-Conntrol HD can discover the USB drive and control playback ok, so there must be a way….

What is M-Control HD? I couldn't find it with a web search.

RE: How to configure contentDir for a Nagra Streamer
ConversDigital makes M-Connect IOS apps for unpn players. They have a version called mconnect mcontrol, which is to be used as a control point with ann external streamer / render. There are 2 versions: one for the iPhone that is free, and one version (HD) for iPad that doesn’t cost much.
Nagra’s initial release of their streamer uses the M-Control app for IOS users. It discovers the streamer, checks for firmware updates from Nagra and discovers Nagra’s USB port if a drive is plugged in. BTW, it also discovers my MinimServer on my Mini Mac too, so I have the option to either play from the USB port on the Nagra streamer or selecting the MinimServer library (running separately on Mac mini) and getting a better GUI experience. Functionality / GUI of M-Control HD is ok, but somewhat limited, so I tend use JPlay or Roon. |

RE: How to configure contentDir for a Nagra Streamer
Thanks for this pointer. It seems that mcontrol uses a proprietary mconnect server protocol to interact with server libraries and mconect uses the standard UPnP server protocol. To verify this, I installed mcontrol on my Android phone and it couldn't find any of my MinimServer libraries.
Based on your experience, it sounds like the Nagra player has support for the proprietary mconnect server protocol but not for the standard UPnP server protocol. |
