MinimServer,Metadatics, Synology NAS-Tags scattered response
Im sure it's my lack of understanding but when I use Mosaic or Audrivana with my Rossini and the above set up.(DCS Rossini,Synology NAS,MinimServer,Moasic,Audrivana) I have way too many albums categories. Example I would like all my Beatles albums listed together under them as artists. However I get several separate groups I have to track down to see all my Beatles albums. I stored every album file under "The Beatles then the album name in the Nas. I still get a category second category of " Beatles,The"? and others ,so the albums remain scattered in different areas???? I have to search multiple places to find all of them. This is true for multiple artists.I also have tracks from one album being shown individually not as a album? All I am trying to do is name and artist and have all their albums shown for that artist, then I will browse the albums? Why can't I get this set up? What Am I doing wrong?

RE: MinimServer,Metadatics, Synology NAS-Tags scattered response
MinimServer uses the tags in your files to group albums and files for indexing. If the tags in your files (Album, Artist, AlbumArtist, etc.) are inconsistent, you will have problems with the indexes shown by MinimServer not being correct. It sounds like this is what you are seeing.
To solve this, you have two options: 1) Fix the tags in your files. You could do this manually using a tagging program such as Mp3tag (many others are available) or automatically using a program such as SongKong. SongKong uses the MusicBrainz database to find the correct tag values and writes them into your files. 2) Use [folder view] in MinimServer to browse your library by the folder structure you are using for your music library on your NAS. |

It seems helpful but I am still unable to accomplish what I am trying to do. 1- I would like to have all the artists listed 2- I would then simply like to have all the albums for a single artist in one place. If I can get EX The Beatles in an artist folder then all their albums I will be happy. Seems simple. However I still get 3 versions of them as artist. The Beatles Beatles, the Beatles each with some albums? Not sure what I am doing wrong in MinimServer to cause that or how song know can help fix? |

RE: MinimServer,Metadatics, Synology NAS-Tags scattered response
The first step is to fix the Artist and AlbumArtist tags in all your albums using SongKong. If you need guidance on how to do this, you should be able to get help from SongKong support.
After you have fixed the tags, do a MinimServer rescan. The Artist index in MinimServer should then be working as you expect. |
