Update from 2.0.18 to Version 2.2

Dear forum members,

Out of laziness, I'm still running version "MinimServer 2.0.18 update 201".

I knew one day I'd have to take the consequences - with result: I don't have the faintest idea how to get this update done. I understand, an update from any version from 2.1nn should be easy. I appreciate the comprehensive text on the very website. Still, I'd crash the system, if I just followed but don't utterly grasp.

Is there a (slightly detailed ;o) hint, pointing me the right direction? I'd love to be managing this update and would report any successful result.

Hi, it's a QNAP TS-212. Is this information sufficient?

This is an older model and QNAP doesn't put app updates for old models in the App Center. This means you need to do a manual install of MinimServer 2.2 by following the instructions in this section. You need the ARMv5 download for your NAS. You should do the update without stopping or uninstalling your current MinimServer version.

If you don't currently have a MinimServer full license, I recommend taking the free 30-day trial after updating to MinimServer 2.2. This provides a number of extra features including indexes for recently added and recently played files, automatic artwork images for all MinimServer index selections, browsing by audio format and audio data and much more.

Hi Simon, my license only expires by 9 April 2025. It stated: "Your license permits you to use the full version of MinimServer...." and so on. If this includes any option you suggested in your reply. Thank you a lot. I shall get my thinking cap on following weekend. Could this thread kept active, so I had an option to add another question. Although I hope, I don't have to.

Hi Simon, MinimServer 2.2 is running That's terrific. Reading the instructions properly, that did the job and completed the update on the old QNAP in less than 5 minutes Thanks a lot once again.

Could I add something this thread, please?

With the new version of MinimServer the tracks of an album are not played in the album order but by sort of arbitrarily sorted order. Having more than one album the pointer jumps between the albums.
This didn't happen with the version before.

Is there any helpful idea what might have gone wrongly with the installation process? It seemed ok in the first place.

My deepest, honestly, deepest apologies. Late evening after a week of long hours at work. Nothing wrong with MinimServer.

I didn't notice the wee activated symbol for "random play", neither on the MacBook, nor on my mobile. Gawd!!! What can I say; a brain would be helpful

Just to answer your question; I'm using a Linn Majik DS ... soon being replaced by a Select DSM and Linn's control software. One only lives twice
