RE: QNAP TS-112 Minimserver compatible?
The power button does not help now so I am stuck. Is factory reset now the only option?

How about disconnecting mains power?

Did that first as you advised.

I have asked QNAP whether their hybrid backup sync actually has a fixed location among the many identical folder names to which I can point MinimServer and where it can index all music folders.

If it turns out that there is none, are you aware of any other backup apps that are more Minimserver friendly and/or do I need to think of an alternative to QNAP?

I may be talking rubbish here, but have you tried switching off the DHCP on your server, and fixing the addresses of your network items?

RE: QNAP TS-112 Minimserver compatible?
If you want to index a backup using MinimServer or any other server program, you need a full backup that contains an exact copy of your music library.

It looks like you are making an incremental backup copy of your library every week and retaining a large number of these weekly backups. Could you change to making full backups and use a rotating scheme where something like the last three or four weekly full backups are available for indexing and older ones are deleted automatically? These full backups would be indexable by MinimServer.

RE: QNAP TS-112 Minimserver compatible?
Thanks.

The size of my Multimedia folder is about 2.8TB (and increasing weekly) out of 3.8TB available on my TS253A.

I may be misunderstanding , but is seems like your scheme would need the Backup NAS to have 3-4 times that storage capacity (ie. greater than 10TB) which would not be feasible. Is this correct?

Your calculation is correct. Why is it important for you to be able to index backups as well as your current library?

RE: QNAP TS-112 Minimserver compatible?
The main setting of QNAP HBS is to do the incremental backups you see in my screenshot attachment.

I already back up my main TS253A music source it this way to my TS251B

QNAP support tell me that it is also possible to set up a Sync job (to my TS112 instead) which I hope would allow MinimServer to index successfully and allow BubbleUPNP to control it as a second music source

Does this make sense?

Yes, a sync of your main library should be fine with MinimServer.
