Minimwatch is greyed out on Mac Sequoia

RE: Minimwatch is greyed out on Mac Sequoia
I gather from our local Apple store that Sequola is likely to roll out at the end of September.
I also wonder - only of interest to a few of us - if programmes like Linn's Konfig, which is not being updated, will work on the new platform.
I am also advised by a friend who works in internet security, that is important that we mortals always use the latest OS's and upgrades to thwart intruders.
Bit of a shame things can't stand still. It does not seem long since I had to jettison DOS and get my head round Windows 95. Oh the joy of having 64mb of RAM instead of 2 mb.

I don't normally run MinimServer on my Mac but it runs fine and allows access to my external NAS. Why does this work and MinimWatch doesn't? MinimServer obviously installed asking if I wanted to give it Full Disk access (No) and network access (Yes). No such questions asked on installation of MinimWatch. Doubt if this is anything you don't know but here just incase.

RE: Minimwatch is greyed out on Mac Sequoia
Thanks very much for this. My experience has been different in various ways.

I have been testing MinimWatch and MinimServer on Sequoia (Beta 6 / Public Beta 4) on a MacBook Air M1. Starting MinimWatch puts the icon in the taskbar but this icon does not change to show running MinimServer instances on other devices. Starting MinimServer puts the icon in the taskbar and MinimServer appears to be running normally but MinimWatch and UPnP control points running on other devices cannot see this instance of MinimServer. This is consistent with network access being blocked for both MinimWatch and MinimServer.

I didn't see any prompts asking me about full disk access or network access for either MinimWatch or MinimServer.

I see there is now a Sequoia release candidate. Are you running this or one of the beta versions? Also, are you running MinimServer and MinimWatch on an ARM-based or Intel-based Mac?

I am out of time now to make further progress on this before I go away on holiday. While I am away I will have limited internet access and I will be able to see and respond to forum posts but I will not have access to any of the devices I use for development and testing.

I see that the official public release of Sequoia is likely to be on 16th September. If this date is correct, it seems that MinimWatch and/or MinimServer probably won't work correctly on this release initially. When I return, I will install the official release on my M1 and Intel Macs as soon as possible and I will work on finding a solution as my top priority.

RE: Minimwatch is greyed out on Mac Sequoia
I downloaded Sequoia this morning and I confirm the icon is greyed.

Not a big deal, I can still rescan from the Lumin app

As properties, I think it is still manageable from port 9790 on my Synology.

Cheers

I too can confirm Minimwatch greyed out with Sequoia - the old trick of waking the Mac from sleep doesn't work either. as 'lyapounov' says 'not a big deal'

RE: Minimwatch is greyed out on Mac Sequoia
same here. since update to macos Sequoia MinimWatch doesn't seem to "see" MinimServer on the network no longer. just a grey icon as if MinimServer wasn't booted.
edit: updated all network settings, rebooted entire network, changed firewall on/off, changed wifi address from fixed to off to rotating but to no avail. I think Java could be sandboxed?

RE: Minimwatch is greyed out on Mac Sequoia
I have been investigating this problem since it was first reported on 21 August. Progress on fixing it is slow, partly because there is no technical documentation from Apple on how the new blocking mechanism works and partly because the block cannot be reset (unlike other Privacy & Security app permissions) which means that every new test I run requires reinstalling Sequoia from scratch.

As soon as I have a solution I will post back here.

RE: Minimwatch is greyed out on Mac Sequoia
Hi Simon,
I upgraded yesterday to Sequoia. Same issue here.

Transmission and IP Scanner Home, both old programs, asked for permission, this morning, so i granted them. They are in the list now under "privacy and protection/local network". Tried to drag Minimwatch into the window, but that does not work. An extra button to add a program would be nice from Apple.
The VLC-player can acces my NAS, asks nothing, not in the local network window, but works anyway.

Good luck! I come back for the solution.

Recent update to Sequoia 15.0.1 seemed to make no difference but this morning Minim watch has woken up and is fully functional.
