Can't get showAllDiscs=true to work
Hi,
I'm trying to use the Multi Disc Albums function to see if I like it or not. I have a fully licensed Minimserver. serverOptions indexArtwork=auto, showAllDiscs=true The disc number tag is set correctly to 1 or 2. I extended the "album" tag by either " [Disc 1]" or " [Disc 2]" I re-indexed the library, no effect. I removed the space in the album tag "[Disc 1]" or "[Disc 2]" Re-index still no effect. I created a new tag DISCSUBTITLE=Disc 1 and DISCSUBTITLE=Disc 2. Re-indexed still no effect. I've fiddled most of the day with this but I can't make it work. Obviously I'm in error somewhere but I can't see where. I need enlightenment. :-) Thanks. Bob. |

RE: Can't get showAllDiscs=true to work
After doing a rescan, have you checked the MinimServer log for warning messages?

From MinimWatch I went into showlog and in that window I set the loglevel to debug. I re-indexed my Library. A lot of data generated but only 1 line with the album name in it and it was much the same as all others. Nothing stood out as an error or a warning. Bob. |

RE: Can't get showAllDiscs=true to work
For future reference, it is better to set the logging level to Info because this shows warning and error messages only. With the logging level set to Debug, it can be hard to see these messages because there is so much other output.
The most likely explanation for this problem is a tagging issue in your files. This should produce warnings in the log. These warnings will reference files from the album and will not include the album name. What tagging program are you using to tag your files? Can you post a screenshot from this program showing the tag values for one of the files that you have tagged as being in disc 2? |

It has long been set to "Info" but I knew there was nothing unusual in the handful of lines it produced. So I tried something more verbose. Its one drawback (as far as I know) is that it cannot do custom tags. It cannot do "DISCSUBTITLE" and so to set that up I used the editor in dBpoweramp. Hopefully I can work out how to add the images... I should perhaps tell you, this is an experiment which I may implement for pop/rock stuff not classical. To have a play, I copied an album folder to another location, renamed the folder and the album title by adding a 2 and experimented. No joy so far unfortunately. Thanks. Bob. |

RE: Can't get showAllDiscs=true to work
I have several albums that are multidisc and I always set the same ALBUM name (red arrow) for all discs and set appropriate name for each disc in DISCSUBTITLE tag (yellow arrow) and they show up as you can see in the attached screenshot

Wish it would work for me but it doesn't. Cheers, Bob. |

RE: Can't get showAllDiscs=true to work
Your tags look fine to me.
What control point are you using? Some control points (for example, the LUMIN app) keep a local cache of the library and this needs to be reloaded or updated after changing tags and doing a MinimServer rescan. Could this be the cause of the problem? If this isn't the solution, please post a screenshot of what you see for this album in your control point. Which control point is it? |

I've never found them slow to pick up any other changes, they are there directly. I'm certain Minimserver is not doing what we're expecting it should and I think that is likely to be a mistake I've made. Thanks. Bob. |

RE: Can't get showAllDiscs=true to work
If you still have Album named:
Celebration 2 [disc 1] Celebration 2 [disc 2] that is the issue , the Album should be named for both discs Celebration2 … this is how the same album example shown before (in Lumïn app) shows in Kazoo |
