A boring problem
Hi friends
since a few weeks, the same problem happens. I switch on my Klimax. And then it takes between 10 to 15 minutes before - the klimax is recognized - it plays music What can be the issue? How come it used to be switched on instantaneously, and now I need to wait 10-15 minutes before being able to play my music. For info: 1) the klimax has its IP adrdess, so not a network issue 2) I have a yamaha network player which is playing without issue, so not an issue with my router How can I debug this ? (One more reason to say than UPnP is a rubish protocol) |

RE: A boring problem
Recognized by … what?
Have you changed something on your network? … never had a single issue with upnp, on my network it is rock solid … since I started using it … around 10 years ago … don’t be provocative if you don’t know where the issue is |

(11-07-2024 22:12)stefano_mbp Wrote: Recognized by … what? Sorry Stefano, but : 1) my network is stable; made of a Asus router with 25 fixed IP adresses, including the Klimax, all this beyond a starlink modem in passthru mode. 2) I changed nothing when the issue happened 3) I don't know where the issue is, and this is why I am kindly asking if someone can help. And I don't need to be admonished by you, you are not my father. 4) I don't care at all to the fact that you had 10 years without any issue, as for me it is a recurring issue since few months. 5) recognized by what ? But by the control point of course. Or to be more accurate, it takes 10 minutes for the control point to suddenly "see" the klimax and even when it "sees" the klimax, the music uploads but does not play. And then the Klimax disappears, and it reappears like 10 more minutes later. In a nutshell, over 20 minutes between the moment I switch on my klimax and the moment it does effectively plays the music. So when I say it is a UPnP issue, I don't see what else it can be as the Klimax is perfectly visible through its IP adress. It is by no mean a TCP/IP issue. But don't worry Stefano, I understand you are as incompetent as me on this issue. Therefore, I am searching elsewhere than in this forum. |

RE: A boring problem
OK, I solved the issue by unpluging the ASUS router for one minute.
It seems something to do with clearing the UPnP lease. Next time it happens (probably in a few months) I'll try to check what happens with UPnP protocol. |

RE: A boring problem
OK, I am using UPnP Analyzer
What I see is that, after rebooting my Router: it is only after one minute that My klimax is visible on UPnP And then that's it. I try to launch some music, but My klimax IP adress is no longer in UPnP analyzer Even though I can access to the klimax upnp xml file Very boring |

RE: A boring problem
Please keep discussion on this thread technical and refrain from making personal comments.
UPnP discovery problems like this are usually caused by some network component not implementing the UPnP protocol correctly. A first step is to power off all network equipment (not just the router) and restart it in the order described in this section. If this doesn't help, try setting up a minimal network with only what you need to play music from your Klimax. If this works, add more network components one by one and check each time whether adding the component has caused the problem to occur again. |

RE: A boring problem
Thx Simon,
however, UPnP works well... except for my Klimax. I used UPnP Analyzer on my Mac to see what happens, and what I see is the klimax is publishing once, then dissapears totally while all other equipments still talk each others; though the Klimax is still in the list I guess I need to work with Linn on this... |

RE: A boring problem
A UPnP server needs to send Alive announcements at least every 30 minutes (15 minutes is recommended).
When a UPnP control point starts, it sends an M-SEARCH message and other devices should respond to this. It sounds like either the Klimax is not responding to the M-SEARCH or your network isn't forwarding the M-SEARCH to the Klimax, possibly because of an IGMP snooping issue. I will be interested to hear what Linn say about this. |

RE: A boring problem
OK, I found the culprit: it seems it is my Switch Buffalo BS-GS2008
I have a Zyxel switch for my TV and my Oppo player, to witch I have attached the buffalo only for my Klimax and my Synology. And it is this switch which is causing issues with the klimax Now, I have to understand what in the Buffalo config I need to change (it is a very complex interface !). IGMP snooping was off (I listen to you, Simon ;-) My first change is to go back to L2 (I was on L3). That seems to work so far... |
