Artist, Artist, Artist
Hi Simon, I'm a long time user and happy with Minimserver.
I had hoped I was done with tagging issues. I like how "Artist" tag works...as seen is your documentation. "The Artist and AlbumArtist tags are indexed specially, as follows: The Artist index provides main artist information. It contains AlbumArtist tag values for albums that have this tag and Artist tag values otherwise. This index is included by default and can be excluded by removing Artist from indexTags." When using most control apps "Artist" works fine - Bubble UPNP is what I usually use but I have tried other such as MConnect. I am needing to try to use a new control point that works better with HQPlayer renderer. The JPlay ios control app works better with HQPlayer so I'm trying to get JPlay control app to work. I have quite a few compliation albums with Album Artists tags and with JPlay all those artists are listed under artists instead of Album Artist as per your Artist definition - messing up my main way to view my 8Tb of music. When I ask the question at JPlay forum they said to use Artist.merge={AlbumArtist} which doesn't work either. JPlay is the only control app I've seen that scans the whole library and I noticed that you have not included that app as fully functional with Minimserver. Have you checked it at all for compatibility? Any thoughts or solutions? Thanks, Dale |

RE: Artist, Artist, Artist
Try this:
In Local Network select Artists Use then the filter to select With Albums in my Library This will let you browse the library by Album Artist |

RE: Artist, Artist, Artist
To ensure all features of MinimServer work correctly when using JPLAY, I suggest you select Local Network > By Folder in JPLAY. This displays a page that enables you to select a MinimServer library and browse this library exactly as you would in any standard UPnP control point such as BubbleUPnP and mconnect, with the usual MinimServer handling of Artist and AlbumArtist.
Despite the somewhat misleading name of this option, it is not related to how music is stored in folders on your file system. |

Simon, yes it's the way JPlay seems to default to the scanned view makes the folder option less desirable. It does indeed display artist correctly but you have to drill down to revert to that view every time you are making a new selection. If the main library view would allow you to enable folder view as default I would be fine but sadly it doesn't seem to be able to be configured that way.

RE: Artist, Artist, Artist
I am not seeing this. For example, if I go into By Folder view and select Play to add an album to the playing queue, I can use the < selection to go back to the previous browsing location in the By Folder view and continue browsing/selecting from there.

RE: Artist, Artist, Artist
I suppose I am talking about the "Home" page in the JPlay app where you can also access Qobuz. If you do not back out all the way you are correct, you can still see artists in local- folder view. I'm still getting used to the layout but I'm pretty sure the app reverts to Home view as a default and then if you select Artist is is no longer Artists in the Folder view but the messed up scanned version. I guess it is workable but not as smooth as I would have hoped.

RE: Artist, Artist, Artist
I tried this and there are four clicks from Home to show the By Folder MinimServer Artist index instead of one click to show the JPLAY synced Artist index. Perhaps you could contact the JPLAY developers to ask if they would consider adding some way to access the last visited By Folder index with a single click.
