MinimWatch - how to install on QNAP NAS drive
I have a QNAP HS251+ NAS drive, on which I have activated a trial licence for MinimServer 2, which is up and running (and successfully "feeding" DSD64 files over my network to my Gold Note DAC).
DSD256 (and DSD512) material is another issue, but I think that's down to the DAC! I tried to activate the MinimStreamer utility, but am not sure I did that successfully. Then, I stumbled across references to MinimWatch, but I am at a complete loss to see: (i) how to download (where from?); and (ii) how to install that on the QNAP NAS drive. Can some kind soulplease suggest specific steps? Thanks in advance - and sorry to take folks' valuable time up with what's probably a terribly basic question or two. Tony Ford Guildford Surrey UK |

RE: MinimWatch - how to install on QNAP NAS drive
To install MinimStreamer or check whether it is already installed, do the following:
1) Open the MinimServer configuration web page. On a QNAP NAS, you can do this by clicking the MinimServer icon on the QNAP home screen or by selecting Open for the MinimServer app in App Center. 2) If MinimStreamer is installed, you will see this as the second line on the page: MinimStreamer 2.0.12, Copyright © 2012-2023 Simon Nash. All rights reserved. 3) If you don't see this line, select the MinimStreamer tab and click the Install button. MinimStreamer should install and restart MinimServer when installation is complete. MinimWatch is an older configuration and control interface that runs on a PC or Mac, not on the QNAP. For most configuration tasks, it is easier and better to use the MinimServer configuration web page. MinimServer supports DSD256 and DSD512, so it is likely to be your DAC that is not able to play these. You can use MinimStreamer to transcode these files to WAV at the highest resolution your DAC can support. |
