RE: MinimServer stopped working - subscription issue?
This problem is not caused by a subscription issue. If you are running MinimServer on a QNAP NAS, open the MinimServer shared folder in QTS File Explorer. Are there any error messages in the minimserver.log or minimserver-out.log files? Also, are there any files in this folder whose names start with minimserver-crash?

RE: MinimServer stopped working - subscription issue?
Thanks for your (as ever) prompt reply, Simon, even over Christmas. Much appreciated.
The problem seems to have sorted itself out after two days of me not being able to stream my downloaded files through the QNAP with MinimServer. It is running again. Perhaps I had a problem with my network. But I still have a problem with the MinimWatch icon in my toolbar. It is a beige colour and when I click on it I can only access Options, Refresh and Exit. All the rest is greyed out. I have checked the minimserver.log and minimserver-out.log files and can see nothing untoward. Except that the minimserver.log file is extraordinarily long as I have never cleared it. Can I do that, or is it best to leave it as it is? Best regards. |

RE: MinimServer stopped working - subscription issue?
Dear Simon,
In fact, I have lost contact with Minimserver on the QNAP. When I thought earlier that it was running, I think I was mistaken, because I also have an old legacy Twonky Media still installed which works- I have two Macbook Pros, one from 2017 with Intel chips, and a new one which has the M3 Max chip. I tried to install Minimwatch on the new machine, I followed all the instructions carefully, including the rather complicated ones ensuring the correct downloading of the right Java JRE, but I have a grey icon. I also removed the Minimwatch on the old Macbook Pro and reinstalled it to ensure compatibility with Minimserver 2.2 which I have running on my QNAP. I still have the beige icon (though I suppose that might be a misrepresentation of the dark grey. The Minimwatch log file I can access from the Options tag on the icon tells me that Minimserver 2.2 is running. I have tried to add a screenshot of the log file, but I have not yet found a way of doing it. The minimwatch log file on the new computer provides all the technical detail of the Minimwatch 2.2 update 111 It runs through the Java details, identifies UPnP port 9791 has been selected and Startup is complete. But it has not identified Minimserver 2.2. as being running. Does this help you identify my problem? |

However if you sleep the device you should find MinimWatch is running fine all along and with show a clear icon and the full menu when your Mac wakes. |

RE: MinimServer stopped working - subscription issue?
It sounds like the problem is caused by a UPnP network discovery issue. There is information about this on this page. As a first step, I suggest you power your QNAP NAS off and on. This often resolves the problem.

RE: MinimServer stopped working - subscription issue?
Simples! Yes, that has worked, Simon. Problem solved!
It's extraordinary. We have all this high quality, expensive, sophisticated equipment, and on so may occasions all we need to do when something is not working is just switch it off and switch it on again! And there was me thinking I would have a tricky afternoon fiddling with the software! Many thanks, Simon. |

RE: MinimServer stopped working - subscription issue?
My first PC back in 1983 had a big red switch (BRS) to power it on and off. When something didn't work (which happened often) the first thing to try was always BRS. It seems we haven't progressed very far in the last 40 years
