Melco N1ZEX-H50 Runs Slow
My new Melco N1ZEX-H50 seems to run slower than my N1Z-H60/2. Let me explain: The scroll across the OLED is much slower on the H50 and also the gap between cuts on the album is much larger than the H60. Running Bubble UpNp, I cannot get gapless playback on either unit, but it is much closer on the H60. I did read the post on the quality of the ethernet cables and I ordered a couple of Cat 8 cables to try out. Other problem is I have to run a 30 foot cable from router to Melco.

For better sound quality, would I be better off running the 30 foot cable from router to a switch, and then run a shorter high quality ethernet cable from Melco to switch?

RE: Melco N1ZEX-H50 Runs Slow
I don't think adding a switch in the way you suggest will make any difference. A 30-foot length of Ethernet cable (Cat 5E or higher) should not cause the problems you have described.

It sounds like there is some other problem with your network setup. Are you using your Melco devices as renderers, servers or both? What other devices are involved (servers, control points and renderers) as well as your Melco devices? Please describe your complete network setup.

I have the Melco running into a PS Audio DS DAC and use a Samsung Android tablet with Bubble as the control point. The Melco is connected directly to Netgear router. I really don't see anything in the Bubble setup that would really change anything. I have selected gapless playback and it doesn't work.

Are your music files (and MinimServer) on the Melco? Is the PS Audio DAC connected to the Melco via USB or in some other way? If it is connected via USB, what are your Melco settings for USB-DAC? Do you have any transcoding settings in MinimServer?

Melco settings for DAC are Controller Mode, UPNP AV/DLNA Derivatives. Not sure what you are referring to as transcoding settings in MinimServer.

Managed to get the gapless problem fixed. Found the manual online that explains the latency. Guess I need to find more time to do some more reading. Thanks for your help.

Would you like to share the solution to help other users who might have the same issue? For example, did you need to change PS Audio settings, Melco settings or BubbleUPnP settings?

I had to change the settings in the Melco. Had to go online and download the full manual to find the information. It was a simple fix, but without a manual, I didn't have a clue. The full manual is pretty good though, it explains the settings.
