I have installed Minimserver on my Synology 212j and it is running properly [green],however I can't open Minimwatch on my Mac.I have tried ctrl/click but does not open.Should I delete and reinstall? Also to access music do I point my ITunes library to Minimserver or can I drag and drop?Any response would be appreciated.

When you start MinimWatch on the Mac, you should see a small icon with a minim symbol (musical note) in the menu bar. This is explained on this page, which also tells you how to set up your content directory (the location where MinimServer will look for audio files). You can't drag and drop audio files to MinimServer. |

RE: Minimwatch etc.
I have now loaded some of my music to the Synology but I am still having difficulty accessing it.Minimserver is running well on the Synology but I can't open Minimwatch or start Minimserver.Minimserver has read/write access on the Synology.I have read all instructions so any step by step approach would be appreciated.

When you start MinimWatch on your Mac, do you see an icon with a minim symbol (musical note) in the menu bar? If so, try clicking on this icon and selecting Properties. If MinimServer is running on the Synology, this will show the current contentDir setting. If you are able to get this far, what do you see for the contentDir setting? This value needs to be set to the correct location of your music files, using a Linux-style path that the Synology can understand. |

At present, MinimWatch requires Apple Java 6. You need to uninstall Oracle Java 7 and install Apple Java 6. For details of how to install Apple Java 6, see the "Installing Java" section on this page. |

RE: Minimwatch etc.
I am still struggling with Java.As I have a Synology 212j which does not have Intel Java 7SE would be ok?I have downloaded eire-7u21-fcs-b11-linux-arm-sflt-headless-04_apr_2013.tar.gz.I added gz as I understood this was required,is this correct? The package repository URL has been added in Settings Package Sources but I'm still getting" invalid file format".This now getting increasingly frustrating I would therefore appreciate any further help.

Do you have the correct Java version installed on your Mac now? Can you start MinimWatch on the Mac? Which browser did you use to download the ARM version of Java 7 SE? The file you downloaded should be correct, but it seems that the browser download process may have altered the file format. |

Yes, this is the correct file. Quote:The package repository URL has been added in Settings Package Sources but I'm still getting" invalid file format".This now getting increasingly frustrating I would therefore appreciate any further help. This message is not from the Java package from patters. This message would appear when you try to manually install the *.tar.gz in the package center like you would do with a Synology package. Please note that your downloaded file is not an installable Synology package. Instead, you have to copy the *.tar.gz file to the 'public' shared folder on your NAS. Then go to the package center, navigate to the 'Community' tab and click to install the 'Java SE for embedded' package. This procedure will install Java on the Synology. In a previous post you mentioned that you have already successfully installed MinimServer on your NAS. This shouldn't be possible without an existing Java installation. You can verify that MinimServer is installed on the NAS when you see the Minim logo in the package center with the green letters 'Running' below. When you still have problems installing MinimServer on the Synology, please give as much detail as possible. |
