Playlist format
Apologies if I've missed it somewhere (I'm sure I have, just can't see it), I'm trialing Minim on my synology NAS and want to get a few things ironed out, notably the format of the playlist files.
What I can't get my head around is relative paths. As an example I have a music file in: /volume1/Music_NAS/Music/FLAC/16/John Hiatt/Slow Turning/12 - Feels Like Rain.flac I currently have playlist files in /volume1/Music_NAS/Music/Playlists Question 1 What location is best for playlist files (m3u)? Question 2 What path would I use in each line of the playlist file? (relative path). Many thanks in advance and apologies if I've missed the info in the forum. |

The answer to question 1 mainly depends on the configuration of MinimServer. If you have configured /volume1/Music_NAS/Music as content directory your choice is fine. If you have configured /volume1/Music_NAS/Music/FLAC you need to add /volume1/Music_NAS/Music/Playlists also as content directory. Answer to question 2, refering to your example I would write in a file the is stored in /volume1/Music_NAS/Music/Playlists with music files under /volume1/Music_NAS/Music/FLAC: ../FLAC/16/John Hiatt/Slow Turning/12 - Feels Like Rain.flac Kind regards steamfan |

RE: Playlist format
Thank you steamfan, you've explained it very well. I'm borrowing a friends' Naim NDX to A/B compare with my Squeezebox Touch/IRDAC set up.
The Touch (or rather Logitech Media Server (LMS)) is a bit fussy on the format of playlists and I'd got my playlist creation process down to a fine art. However, to test the NDX I needed a true UPnP server on my NAS - hence dipping my toes in the Minimserver water. I've achieved what I wanted to short term, which was to be able to play the same songs/playlist into the Touch and NDX at the same time and simply switch inputs on my amp to compare the two bits of kit. When I do ditch the need for LMS I'll figure out the best folder structure/locations etc and get a new playlist process set up. Many thanks for your input, certainly helped! |
