Artist alphabetical groups
at present, I get artists listed simply in alphabetical order which takes a long time scrolling as I have thousands of entries.

Is it possible to arrange them in alphabetical group folders...

ABC, DEF, GHI....XYZ

...to make finding artists quicker?

I use BubblesoftUPNP

Thanks...TomP

Thanks,
how do I access these proprieties as I do not see anything obvious in the Minimserver Icon?

Also is there a guide on how to make changes to group Artists by First Letter of their name?

Right click on the MinmWatch icon and select Properties.

alphaGroup will by default be on the first letter of the index (indexName=<listSize>):
Code:
alphaGroup: Artist=150

Or are you talking about surname? How do you have it stored?

I am using the "Starter" QNAP Minimserver and all this brings up is an information page.

RE: Artist alphabetical groups
You should see a “don’t show again” box to be selected then hit Next (or Accept) … don’t remember exactly, sorry
Anyway I don’t think you’ll be able to change the configuration on the Starter license, you should go on trial (… and then pay for the Full license)

RE: Artist alphabetical groups
I had already found the properties and there are a number of blank properties that to me as a newbie do not correlate with the grouping link you sent...

any tag from the indexTags list
the special value 'albums' or '[albums]' to enable alphabetical grouping for '<n> albums' lists
the special value 'items' or '[items]' to enable alphabetical grouping for '<n> items' lists
the special value 'folder' or '[folder]' to enable alphabetical grouping for folder view lists
the special value 'all' or '[all]' to enable alphabetical grouping for all lists

Missing seems to be what what I could do on QNAP in 2 min from the Twonky web interface, which is present top level group links (with just the first letter of the artist / group name, but ignoring "The" at the beginning) to all artists starting ABC, DEF...UVW, XYZ

Also I definitely want to exclude any AlbumArtist Tag

Help, would be much appreciated, thanks

This is documented under TagOptions with the example given being:
Code:
tagOptions: Artist.ignore.sort={The}
NOTE: "Artist.ignore.sort.index={The}" will move "The" to the back of the artists name e.g. Beatles, The

The definition of the Artist, All Artists and AlbumArtist indexes can be found here.

It's important to think of these only as indexing entities, because in the rest of the configuration you'll reference everything by tag name e.g. if you wanted to ignore "The" from all entries in the Artist index (assuming you had some missing AlbumArtist tags) you'd need to apply the .ignore to both the AlbumArtist and Artist tags.

If you want to remove any indexing of the AlbumArtist tag simply remove "Artist, " (as AlbumArtist isn't included in the default setup) from indexTags.

RE: Artist alphabetical groups
Apologies to all, but as a newbie I am confused as I am not not seeing what is described in Properties

I see no TagOptions and the only one I do see listed is IndexTags, but it is greyed out, as are the 5 other lines underneath.

Is it because I am using the QNAP QTS MinimServer that seems to offer little or nothing that I can change?
