Seeing different versions on NAS
Been doing some tidying up and shifting FLAC files around and MinimServer isn't updating with the new locations*. Thought it might have been a version issue, but MinimWatch tells me MinimServer on my Synology Diskstation is v2.2, update 240, which I believe is up to date. However, when I look in Package Centre on the Synology Assistant it says I'm running 2.1-0600, with no option to update it.
I'm not terribly technical, so this may be a red herring or an issue with Synology rather that MinimServer. In which case, there must be another reason why the re-indexing of files is not happening. Any help gratefully received. * as an example, I had one folder called "Pretenders", and another called "Pretenders, the". I've cut and pasted a few albums from the latter to the former and re-scanned. I've deleted the old "Pretenders, the" folder and it's no longer visible in Windows Explorer, but the two folders are still there in the MinimServer view on my Naim app. I've refreshed and rescanned everything multiple times to no avail. |

RE: Seeing different versions on NAS
What version of Synology DSM are you running? Synology has a policy of only making MinimServer updates available in Package Center for recent versions of DSM. If this is your situation, you can update MinimServer to the latest version by following the instructions for manual install in this section.
Updating MinimServer to the latest version is a good thing to do (2.2 has many improvements over 2.1) but it will probably not fix the issue you are having with rescan not working. Can you try another control point such as mconnect to see whether the problem is with the Naim app not updating for some reason? |

Thanks for this. I've had a look and will try these suggestions out. Cheers.

RE: Seeing different versions on NAS
Just to wrap this query up, following some digging around I discovered that my Synology DS210j NAS is 'end of life' and doesn't support DSM beyond v5.2. I couldn't even install MinimServer 2.2 manually as a result. The NAS is probably a decade old, so no surprise. Invariably, the hard drives (which are newer) are not compatible with the latest equivalent Synology NAS (the DS223j), so the whole lot is being canned. Once the new NAS and fresh drives are in place I'll install MinimServer 2.2 and see if this resolves the original rescanning/indexing issue.
Btw, I tried mconnect and it 'sees' the same incorrect folder structure as my Naim app, so the latter was innocent. Thanks again simoncn :-) |

RE: Seeing different versions on NAS
You should be able to install MinimServer 2.2 on a DS210j running DSM 5.2. What happened when you tried to do the manual install? It is possible you might have downloaded the wrong version of MinimServer for your NAS.
Regarding the problem with incorrect folder structure, you could try doing a full rescan to see whether that helps. To do a full rescan, set the startupScan property to full, then do a rescan and wait for it to complete. It will take longer than a normal rescan because it needs to read every file. |
