Interrupts and Stops between tracks on MacOS
Hi,

Here is my setup: minimserver on Mini-MAC with MacOS Catalina. Naim Unity Atom connected via Ethernet (cable) to the network, Naim App on iPhone.

Here is the strange behaviour:
If the Mini-MAC is connected via Ethernet cable only, all is fine.
If I switch on WiFi in addition, I encounter regular (3-4 per track) drop-outs of the music and stops between tracks (i.e. if I play an album, it might stop after the 3rd or 5th track).

In the latter case, the Mini-MAC, and hence the MinimServer, has two different IP addresses via which it is reachable. Normally, the MacOS has a priority list in which the Ethernet is always no. 1. So, I thought the IP address of the WiFi has no influence. Still, I guess that somehow these 2 IP addresses might be the reason for the strange behaviour.

I would like to have WiFi on because I need the airdrop feature of the Mac. However, I prefer using the cabled Ethernet for the streaming.

Has anybody got an idea of how to solve this?

RE: Interrupts and Stops between tracks on MacOS
If you are able to set up the wired and wireless networks to use different subnets, you can configure MinimServer so that it is only discoverable over the subnet for the wired adapter.

If the wired and wireless networks need to be on the same subnet, MinimServer should select one adapter at random. Is it possible that MinimServer is selecting the wireless adapter and the auto-sleep feature of macOS is causing the dropouts?

Super! This has solved the problem. Thanks a lot.
