BBC radio streams with Synology DSM 6.2.4 - Fix

Hello,

My minimStreamer licence is showing as valid until May 22 2023.

I am running it on a Synology Nas and all packages are showing as up to date.

About shows MinimServer 2.2 update 240 & MininStreamer 2.0.11

However when running it this morning to listen to the BBC Radio Streams (or others, I have some Absolute streams also configured) it is not working.

In the log it is showing:

Converter program ended unexpectedly with exit value 1

This happens whenever I select any of the streams I have set up.

I can't figure out why this is happening.

This sounds like it could be a temporary network issue or possibly a problem with the DNS configuration of your NAS.

Thank Simon. I'll have a go again later. There was DMS update I installed a few days back so will see if it's all running ok then. It's been so reliable before today so will slowly work through everything including the usual switch off switch on!!

Hi Simon.

Rebooted everything- but still no luck - all the radio streams I have set up (BBC, Absolute, Linn) will not stream at all.

Is it worth me reinstalling minimstreamer - however, if I do that, will it go back to being a trial version and not link to my subscription?

Which version of Synology DSM are you running? Also, on the System tab under the Properties tab of the MinimServer configuration web page, what are the settings for stream.converter and stream.transcode? It is possible that these settings are not compatible with the new version of Synology DSM that you installed recently.

Reinstalling MinimStreamer or MinimServer will not make any difference. If you decide to try it, the new installation will still be linked to your license and your configuration settings will be unchanged.

Hi. It's not a problem with minimstreamer as I've tested that by using it to transcode some local flac files to wav and its doing that successfully.

I've recreated a new m3u file using MS VCode (just in case that was corrupted) and that seems fine, it simply seems that for some reason, the streams are not being either allowed or fed through from the Synology NAS server, unlike previously.

I am running it all on a Synology DS215 with DSM 6.2.4-25556 Update 7.

Previously, everything has run with no problems, and I've not changed anything other than updating the DSM to the latest version - so I'm not sure if thats the problem or not as I don't really understand enough about DSM or the NAS to know where to start!

Has anyone else had this problem with their streams?

The problem is likely to be caused by the stream converter program you are using (usually some version of ffmpeg). Please post your settings for stream.converter and stream.transcode. This should enable me to provide suggestions for a possible solution.

When you specify flac:wav in stream.transcode to transcode local files, you are using the internal converter within MinimStreamer instead of a stream converter program, so seeing this working does not eliminate the stream converter program as the cause of the problem.
