Optimal Usage of XLD

Dear Simon, dear all,

Hope this does not exceed the scope of this forum.

My question relates to the use of XLD, which I am using to rip CDs and convert them into Flac-files, saving them on my QNAP NAS Server in the Multimedia directive (/shared/Multimedia).

The problem I have is that all titles are filed in the Multimedia folder WITHOUT creating a folder where each song item is filed. This is useful once using the Folder View. In the past this worked. Having updated XLD (and MinimServer and MinimWatch) now I find myself in this situation.

Can anyone help with this please and let me know what are the right setting for XLD. I have already ticked in Batch "maintain folder structure", but that does not seem to be it.

I attach my general settings (unfortunately in German).

Also: when converting with XLD to Flac, MinimServer does not seem to find all items, despite refreshing and/or rescanning MinimServer via MinimWatch. I can only find my recent rips via date.

I haven't used XLD so I'm unable to provide the correct setting to fix the incorrect placement of ripped files. Looking at the screenshot you posted, there is a "File Naming" selection at the top. This might give you the opportunity to choose the setting that you need.

If you are using "Recently Added" in MinimServer to view your files, the default limit for the size of the recently added list is 300 files. Does this explain why you are not seeing some files? This limit can be increased to a maximum of 1000 files. For anything more than this, you need to use the full MinimServer index (tag view or folder view).

If this is not the reason for the problem, please post screenshots showing more information.

You need to create you folder before using XLD. I don't think XLD will guess this. If you really want this feature, use dbPoweramp instead

If you add in the file naming tab
%A - %T (%y) [%f]/%n - %a - %t

Moin,

there are two important settings in XLD to get the files stored correctly:

1. Under "General" ("Allgemein") you set the base path where to store the files without giving details
2. Under "File naming" you give the details how to store the files
   

I'm using the string "%a/%T/%n %t" (without quotes) in the "Format des Dateinamens". This means that the files are stored as <artist>/<album titel>/<titel number> <title> where the "/" means a subdirectory.

If you hover with the mouse/pointer for about a second over the input field you get an explanation of the various parameters.
