QNAP HS-210 Issues with Minimserver 2.2

As of today (3 Feb 23) I have been having issues with Minimserver 2.2. All was working well - in particular the update from 2.1 to 2.2 seemed to go without issue.

Now, however, Minimserver will not work on my QNAP HS-210 at all.

The first thing I noticed was that there was no server in my control app. Then on Minimwatch the icon was red. I had a brief message flash up about my licence. I did not catch all of this, but my licence should be valid up until late May.

So it was off to the QNAP 'webpage'. Attempting to start Minimserver via this page led to the following message(s):

Minimserver is stopped: to restart, use Stop and Start in the App Centre

(I tried this, but ....)

followed by:

Minimserver start error: java.lang.StringindexOutOfBoundsException: String index out of range: 4
Minimserver set to disabled

I rebooted the QNAP. I updated the QNAP firmware. But this has not helped.

I should add that I have made no recent changes to the library or my settings, so I am somewhat at a loss.

Any suggestions?

Please use QTS File Station to look in the MinimServer shared folder for the minimserver.log file, then download this file and attach it to a post here.

Thanks again. From these files, I see what is causing the problem. To get MinimServer running again, do the following:

1) In App Center, stop MinimServer if it isn't stopped already
2) In the MinimServer/data folder, either delete or rename the files minimserver.config and minimserver.config.save
3) In App Center, start MinimServer
4) You will see an error message about MinimStreamer having been disabled
5) Open the MinimServer configuration web page and select the License tab
6) You should see a message telling you that your license has been updated from Starter to Full
7) In App Center, stop MinimServer and then start MinimServer
8) MinimServer and MinimStreamer should now be running normally

I will look into what I can do to prevent this from happening again.

Thanks again for the prompt support Simon. It is running again. In my App Centre the Minimserver icon says it is version 2.1. However when I open it, it reports being v2.2. Obviously not a problem, but I mention it just in case it helps.

The version in App Center is showing 2.1 because you did an "update install" of MinimServer 2.2 using the Install button on the MinimServer configuration web page. This is not a problem and it is explained in the last paragraph of the Update install section.

The java.lang.StringIndexOutOfBoundsException error is fixed now in MinimServer update 238.
