Hi, how did you install and set up Java on the Synology?

Using synology Java package I am very new to this and just working my way around synology
also would like to get Bliss up and runing

Do you mean the official package 'Java Manager' from Synology? Unfortunately, I'm not able to give much support concerning the 'Java Manager'. This package is currently available for Synology x86 models (like yours) only, and I own an ARM model. However, other users have reported that MinimServer works in combination with the 'Java Manager'. If you are familiar with telnet/ssh, I'd be interested in the output of

and

which java

on your device.

Alternatively, you can install the Java package from patters. This is known to work reliably with MinimServer and also with Bliss.

Hi, before we move on with telnet, please confirm whether all the following three points apply to your current situation:

1) You did successfully install Java on the DS412+ using the official Synology package Java Manager
2) You did not install the Java SE for Embedded 6 package from patters nor any other kind of Java package.
3) You still get the error message about a missing Java installation when trying to install MinimServer.

I did try to install java se after error message but it wouldn't install

Please do the following:
1) Open the DSM main menu (click on the icon in the top left corner of the Synology web interface)
2) Open the Java Manager (click on the icon 'Java Manager')

What do you see next to 'Installation status:'?

Thanks! This means that Java is not installed. The explanation is that installing the Synology package 'Java Manager' does not install Java itself on the Synology, but it provides an interface to install/upgrade/remove (manage) Java. To install Java, please do the following:

1) Go to this website, accept the license agreement and download the file 'jre-6u45-linux-i586.bin' locally to your computer. Note that you will have to register with Oracle to be able to download the file.
2) Open the Synology 'Java Manager' again and click 'Choose file' to select the file downloaded in step 1. This will install Java on your Synology.

Please note that the file extension of the downloaded file may be changed depending on the browser you use. If so, you will have to rename the file to 'jre-6u45-linux-i586.bin' again.
