Minimserver on QNAP not running after HD expansion
On my QNAP TS-251B, I had to replace a failed 3TB RAID1 drive and replaced it with a 4TB drive, then successfully replaced to other 3TB drive and expanded the Pool to 4TB.
I've been running Minimserver 2.1.2 for some years without issue but notice that after this HD work, MinimWatch now does not see it running, although it does show as running OK on my other QNAP TS-253A. I have tried stopping and starting, but that does not work. Help / advice would be most welcome, thanks. |

RE: Minimserver on QNAP not running after HD expansion
From QNAP QTS, open App Center and look for the MinimServer icon. If this is green (running), click Open to view the Status page. Are there any error messages? What does it say for Media server status?

RE: Minimserver on QNAP not running after HD expansion
Minimwatch does not now show MinimServer on my TS-251B HBS backup server, but does on my TS-253A main server, after years of showing both

RE: Minimserver on QNAP not running after HD expansion
Thanks for this. It means MinimServer is running correctly. When you tried stopping and starting (post #1), did you stop and start MinimServer or did you power the NAS off and on? If you didn't power the NAS off and on, try doing this now.
If this doesn't fix the problem, do you have a firewall enabled on the NAS or any other setting in the NAS network configuration that might be causing this problem? |

RE: Minimserver on QNAP not running after HD expansion
I did do the power off / on cycle several times without success and there is no firewall set.
Minimwatch has been seeing MinimServer for years without any changes, and then suddenly stopped when I had to replace an HD at the same time I did a QTS 5.0.1.2145 firmware upgrade that had bugs, which QNAP withdrew and replaced by a fixed 5.0.1.273 version a few days later. I also checked MinimWatch was the latest version, so have you any ideas? |

RE: Minimserver on QNAP not running after HD expansion
I have updated my QNAP NAS to QTS version 5.0.1.2173. MinimServer is running normally and I can access it from MinimWatch, so the problem is not caused by QTS.
Did you by any chance copy the minimserver.config file from your TS-253A to your TS-251B? This would cause the problem you are seeing. If you didn't copy this file, it is possible that powering the router off and on might help. This sometimes works when no other explanation for this problem can be found. If this doesn't help, can your music apps see MinimServer? If you start the Synology UPnP server, can your music apps see that? |

RE: Minimserver on QNAP not running after HD expansion
The one thing you did not ask about was power-cycling the PC on which MinimWatch runs. I was away for the weekend and powered off the PC, then on power up I see that Minimwatch is now running on both my servers
