Multiple instances on Synology NAS

RE: Multiple instances on Synology NAS
The Synology Docker instructions on the MinimServer page were slightly out of date. I have updated them to match the current Docker package for DSM 7 (20.10.3-1308). Step-by-step screenshots showing what I did are attached.

Wish I had better news..
Uninstalled Docker and Minimserver.
Downloaded latest Minimserver for intel.
Reinstalled Minimserver. (check that it worked)
Then reinstalled Docker.
Downloaded the 2.1 version of Minimworld/Minimserver.
Then followed your new install instructions except for timezone.
Still the same ... cannot see a UPnP presence.
One question I have about your screen shots.
In your Volume screen shot yours has the:

File/Folder as /Music and the Mount path as /Music
File/Folder as /Minimserver the Mount path as /Minimserver

Mine has:
File/Folder as /music/FLAC-L5 and the Mount path as /Music (as I have more than one folder in my music folder on the NAS)
File/Folder as /Minimserver the Mount path as /Minimserver
That's about the only difference.
This is still with the firewall and rules disabled.
Thanks.

RE: Multiple instances on Synology NAS
Thanks for this. I think the Docker instance of MinimServer might have started and then stopped with an error before scanning your files. You can check this in two differerent ways.

1) In a web browser on any device connected to your local network, type x.x.x.x:9792 into the address bar where x.x.x.x is the local IP address of your NAS. Does this show the MinimServer status page? If so, is this page displaying an error message?

If the status page does not display or if there is no error message, proceed to the next step:

2) In the Synology Docker app, select the MinimServer container and click Details. On the Details page, click Terminal and then click Create. This adds a new line 'bash' under the name of your container. Click 'bash' and a command prompt 'bash-4.2#' will appear in the terminal window. At the 'bash-4.2#' prompt, type these commands:

cat /opt/minimserver/data/minimserver-out.log
cat /opt/minimserver/data/minimserver.log

Do you see any error messages in the output from either of these commands?

Sorry for time delay... I'm in Oz.
You are right.
x.x.x.x:9792 shows it is in a stopped state.
tried to restart and rescan did not change this.
Added pics of the status and also the overview which I notice has a statement about the Execution Command with "wait" at the end.
ie. "/bin/sh/opt/minimserver/bin/startd wait"

The bash commands showed:
bash-4.2# cat /opt/minimserver/data/minimserver-out.log

RE: Multiple instances on Synology NAS
Thanks for doing this. The problem is caused by this message:
MinimServer shared folder on host is not shared with this container

In an earlier post, you said that setup has:
File/Folder as /Minimserver the Mount path as /Minimserver

This needs to be:
File/Folder as /MinimServer the Mount path as /MinimServer
with a capital S in MinimServer.

Thats it !!
Thanks for perservering with me.
How dumb of me is that.Angry
Now I can see it on my tablet and phone. Smile
So the statement for the music file
File/Folder as /music/FLAC-L5 and the Mount path as /Music
(my music is in /volume1/music/FLAC-L5)
should this be fine or do I have to enter it in the
x.x.x.x:9792 MinimServer Staus page as well in the content directory as normally done with the normal MinimServer app in the NAS?
Thanks again.

RE: Multiple instances on Synology NAS
Can you see all your music when you use a control point to view the second instance? If so, you don't need to change anything. The second instance should have /Music for the content directory, which is the container's view of /volume1/music/FLAC-L5.

I can see the music folder and music files.
The Docker version top level music folder presents slightly differently to the "normal" MinimServer app but just so happens to show a [Folder View] that I cannot see available "normal" MinimServer app.
But I do like the [Folder View] option..can it be made available in the "normal" MinimServer app?
Thanks again Simon for helping me with this .. it was really bugging me.:Smile

If you're using the Hi-Fi Cast app, do you have your 'Top Level Music Folder' set differently on the servers, as both top level views should be the same.

If I'm not right, it might be worth attaching a screenshot if possible.

RE: Multiple instances on Synology NAS
It was really bugging me as well, trying to work out how your setup was different from mine. I am very pleased the problem is solved now.

The [folder view] selection should be present on all instances of MinimServer. It is the last entry in the index, so you might need to scroll down to see it.
