Synology and SSD
Hi all
My library becoming very big (7 Tb), but also the price of SSD going down, I feel it is time for me to replace my WD Red by SSD in my Synology server. What I will do is get 4 x 4T SSD in Raid 0 mode and put them in my DS418 play. No redundancy but my music library is synced on three different synology, so no fear of loosing data. Though not using redundancy could be a little scary ;-) After reading here and there, I have two in shortlist: Crucial MX500 (which I have seen people using on their Melco in this community) or Samsung 870 QVO. The Crucial is a little more expensive than the Samsung (20€ more...). I have read QVO versus EVO, and it seems QVO is better at reading and EVO at writing. Apart from the initial load, I have much more read than write so QVO is good. Is there anyone here who also did put SSD on a Synology? Any advice ? Many thx !!! |

RE: Synology and SSD
Now having Synology DS 220+ with two Samsung QVO 8T
Did this change sound quality ? I can't answer that question; it is too much subjective, as I posted somewhere. The value: connect the synology and the Klimax on the same switch, without any noise due to disk turning and access. And this is objective ! |
