Web API to obtain track tags

Hello,
I'm in the process of writing a java app to show tag info for currently playing track. From searching the forum, it seems there is no such api, just the ones for controlling the server itself.

Am I missing something?
If not, is this feature that might be considered for future implementation?

You are correct that the web API is just for controlling the server. All other interactions are via the UPnP protocol. I don't have any plans to change this.
