Minimserver on QNAP TS-109 not visible on network
I have installed minimserver 0.72 on a QNAP TS-109 NAS, following the instructions to first install JRE, then the server. After enabling the package and successfully installing minimwatch on a PC, I still can't see the server. Minimwatch stays grey, minimserver is not visible on Kinsky. The QNAP log shows that the server is enabled.

I think my LAN is OK, because mimserver is visible when installed on a Win7 PC.

Any clue ?

This problem might be caused by installing the wrong JRE (e.g., x86 instead of ARM).

Please disable MinimServer from the QNAP QPKG Center. This will create a diagnostic file named minimserver-diag.tar.gz in the Public share of the QNAP. Please attach this file to a post here. If this file is too large for a forum attachment, please send me a PM. Thanks!

Thanks! From these logs, it seems that MinimServer is failing to start (or hanging during startup) without producing any error message.

This might be caused by some problem with the way Java is installed on the TS-109. Which version of Java did you download and install? Which firmware version are you running on the TS-109?

If this is a TS-109 (not a TS-109 II), it will have only 128MB of memory. Depending on what else you have running on the NAS, this might be a problem. If you use the QNAP Admin console to display System Status > Resource Monitor > Memory Usage, what does this show?

Which wrong version of Java did you have? This information would be very useful to help me provide a better diagnostic for other users.

For some wrong versions of Java (e.g., x86 Java on an ARM NAS), I would expect to see an error message in either the minimserver-sh.log or the minimserver-out-xxxx.log file in the diagnostic archive, but I didn't see any messages there. I'd like to fix this if possible. Many thanks!

I have the same problem. I have attached the diag file if somebody would be so kind to look at.

Thanks.

This file shows that MinimServer was in the process of starting normally when it was stopped by an external command. It was stopped about 2 minutes 40 seconds after it was started.

Please try this again and wait at least 30 minutes for the startup to complete. The first startup is slower than usual because it needs to read every file in your library. After this, startup will be faster because MinimServer is reading file data from a cache.

It would also be helpful if you could install MinimWatch on a PC or Mac and use the Verbose logging level in the log window to monitor startup progress. This will show all the directories that are being scanned as part of the startup process, and will give you an indication in real time of how the startup scan is progressing.
