Best Way to Keep Rock/Pop Separate from Classical

As the title says, what's the best way to separate my rock/pop and classical collections (running on a Melco)?

1. Run two instances of Minimserver? (Is this possible on a Melco?)
2. Do some sort of initial choice of genre (classical vs. non-classical)?

I'd be worried that 1. might have a performance impact, although it strikes me as the simplest option (assuming it can be done).

2. is potentially more complicated as I'd prefer two different browse structures depending on the choice made between classical / non-classical.

Any thoughts on the best route?

I solved this problem by using the the tag "Genre" in all my music files (both FLAC and DSF):

For Jazz:
Jazz

For Pop:
- Pop
- Blues
- Folk
- Country
- R&B

For Classical:
- Ballet
- Chamber
- Chorus
- Concerto
- Opera
- Piano
- Symphony
- Traditional
- Vocal

This uniquely divides classical, from jazz from pop.

Another solution is to create a higher level tag "Main genre" with the values:
- Pop/Rock
- Jazz
- Classical
and optionally also use the "Genre" tag with the following mentioned above.

If each one needed unique index selections and you didn't need both available concurrently you could always use different profiles.

It isn't possible to run multiple MinimServer instances on a Melco.

Thanks, folks, looks like some sort of selection on genre if I want to do this. If I put genre, or ‘main genre’ as suggested above, at the top of the browse tree, do I end up with same options below that no matter what I select at the top?

Actually, the use of profiles may be enough, assuming it allows me to choose different ‘home’ folders where the files are stored. It would mean having to select the profile from the Melco unit itself rather than the control app, but I guess that would work.

I was just about to reply with:
A single profile has a defined set of indexTags that will always appear no matter the selections made, but if those tags aren't populated then they won't show e.g. Once you've selected Rock/Pop you won't see indexes for composer, work, movement - unless they are populated in your Pop/Rock music of course.

The content directory is also a per profile setting.

If you use the tag update functionality you can group your genres in something like a main-genre.
Check the attached file that is what I use to group genres.
You can use it just modifying your genres as you entered them in your metadata
You'll have a tag named Library which contains grouped genres and each of them will contain the detailed genre
You just need to define in indexTags property the Library tag, and in Properties/Advanced enter in tagUpdate property the path/name of the file
... that's all

If you have an Melco N10, N100 or EX model, the Melco front panel allows you to switch between four predefined profiles (Classical, Rock/Pop, Jazz and Default). You can customise these predefined profiles by selecting them from the front panel and changing their properties using MinimWatch.

If you create a new profile with your custom settings, you can select this profile from the MinimServer configuration web page but you can't select this profile from the Melco front panel.
