Hello,
I have two fully licensed MinimServers. One runs on a Synology NAS unit and the other runs on my Linux Mint desktop. Both work without any issues. I am trying to use one MinimWatch to control both servers. I have done the following: 1. Install MinimWatch on my local Linux Mint Desktop 2. CD into the bin directory 3. Run "./starti" Expected result: Have two MinimServer icons, one for each server Actual result: 3 icons. One for the Synology and two identical icons for the local server (see attached image) Any ideas? Thanks! |

RE: MinimWatch for two MinimServers
One says "Synology", the other two say "Desktop".

RE: MinimWatch for two MinimServers
It sounds like one Desktop icon is from MinimServer and the other Desktop icon is from MinimWatch.
MinimWatch should not show an icon for a local instance of MinimServer if the local instance of MinimServer is also showing an icon. I have just done a test that confirms this is working as expected on my Linux Ubuntu machine. I will investigate what might be causing this additional icon to appear in your situation. |

Thanks. Let me know if you need any logs or help testing different scenarios.

RE: MinimWatch for two MinimServers
Please run the commands minimserver/bin/setup and minimwatch/bin/setup. What do these say for desktop integration and automatic startup?

MinimServer desktop integration is enabled
MinimServer automatic startup is enabled Do you want to change these settings (y/n)? MinimWatch desktop integration is disabled MinimWatch automatic startup is not available Do you want to change these settings (y/n)? |

RE: MinimWatch for two MinimServers
Thanks for this.
I have been looking at what might possibly cause this. Some more questions: 1) Does your Linux desktop machine have multiple active network adapters on the same subnet (for example, wired and wireless)? 2) Have you set the ohnet.subnet property for either MinimServer or MinimWatch? |

RE: MinimWatch for two MinimServers
Both machine are on the same network. My desktop has only one connection to the local network via the LAN port. I did not specify any subnets anywhere.
Some observations: 1. Launching MinimWatch from the local PC shows only one icon (Synology) and not the local machine. Expected behavior is that MinimWatch will show ALL MinimServers on the local network. 2. Executing ./starti from the local MinimServer directory launches the local icon for the PC (So now I have both) Only in this order I can see the two of them. By the way, during this test, updates for both servers became available so after restarting both, I see only 2 icons. Not sure what happened. Anyway, I think the root of my confusion was to expect all MinimServers to be visible when launching MinimWatch. |

RE: MinimWatch for two MinimServers
You have said that MinimServer automatic startup is enabled. You have also mentioned launching ./starti from the local MinimServer directory. You should not need to launch ./starti from the local MinimServer directory because MinimServer should already be running and should show a minim icon when you login to your desktop.
Please confirm whether rebooting the machine and logging into your desktop (without starting MinimWatch) shows a minim icon for the local MinimServer instance. |
