WAN Access other than BubbleUPnP Server

WAN Access other than BubbleUPnP Server
After upgrading my DS414 to DSM 7, I was unpleasantly surprised to find that BubbleUPnP Server no longer works, nor is BubbleSoft planning to release a DSM 7 package. The suggested work-around is to install BubbleUPnP Server under docker, which I know little about and seems to involve a level of complexity I prefer to avoid.

Are there recommendable alternatives for WAN access of MinimServer? The hope would be to run as BubbleUPnP Server did under DSM 6 -- offer password-protected access to a UPnP/DLNA music server. And be installable via a standard Synology package for DSM 7.

RE: WAN Access other than BubbleUPnP Server
Installing bubbleupnpserver as a docker container is quite simple. You can follow the step by step instructions and it works. The problem is that you need an intel CPU to run docker AFAIK. But the DS414 has a Marvell ARMADA ARMv7 CPU.

I do not know a different solution. Maybe a VPN connection into your local net would work?

Thanks, @tarnkappe. I didn't notice the need for an Intel CPU.

A VPN might work. After the holiday season, maybe I'll look into it more.

Best regards

RE: WAN Access other than BubbleUPnP Server
A VPN should work as long as it is transmitting SSDP (UDP multicast) trafic on UDP port 1900.
Most VPNs do not have this enabled by default (when this is even possible at all).

RE: WAN Access other than BubbleUPnP Server
I'm reopening this thread, as I solved the problem so simply I was gobsmacked. I realized that BubbleUPnP Server needs to be on the same network as the media server -- not the same computer. So I installed BubbleUPnP Server as a service on my Windows desktop, and of course it works perfectly.

Not all inter CPU. My DS218play can't run docket.

RE: WAN Access other than BubbleUPnP Server
Did you try to download and install the package manually? For my 418play the docker package is not offered, too, but it works fine. The disadvantage is that you will need to check for updates manually.
