Tracks belonging to album groups

I'm playing with trying to integrate some types of playlist into the MinimServer tag index sections (rather than simply have them as a long list), and I've come unstuck at the first step/test.

As a first step I'm using tagUpdate to simply tag the tracks in a playlist as a Favourite (have a value of 1), but when testing this, if a favourite track is part of a group and I filter on Favourites, all the songs belonging to that album group are also returned. Is this intended behaviour?

Tracks belonging to a group are not indexed individually. The index shows an entry for the complete group and you need to open the group to see the tracks inside.

This is intended behaviour. If it isn't what you want, you shouldn't be using a group for these tracks.

Maybe I've been using it wrong, but I'd never really found a good definition of the tag; I've been using it to help define the logical structure of a CD/piece of music.
The CD in question was the second disc of a deluxe edition release that comprised the tracks from 4 previously released EP's, hence I had one CD with 4 groups with tracks in each.
Another example is where a Live album might contain tracks that were recorded across a number of different concerts. I know I could put the venue and date information into the title/subtitle, but having it grouped within the control point is also nice.

I don't have any classical music, nor do I have any experience of it, so I wasn't aware it was meant specifically (within MinimServer at least) to group the movements of a symphony. So I guess it makes no sense to say you have a favourite movement, or would want to play a movement in isolation...interesting.

Anyway, useful to know, I guess I'll keep using it in the way I do as I find the extra logical grouping to be useful at times, I just need to be aware of the inherent implications of it.

Thanks for explaining this. I think I understand what you want. Although there are some similarities to groups as currently defined, the implementation would be quite different. Each track would be treated as a separate item for indexing purposes (this is a big difference) but the tracks would be grouped together visually when viewing the contents of an album.
