Bose Soundtouch problems with >> Tag View
Hi,
first of all, Simon, many thanks for your fantastic MinimServer product. I have recently started to try it as an alternative for my Synology Mediaserver which has stopped supporting m3u playlists without their Audiostation app. MinimServer is easy to maintain, extremely fast with scan or search, in fact upnp search is possible at all opposite to the Syno mediaserver. And I appreciate your documentation and user guide as well. Now to my problem. I am using my own upnp control point in combination with Bose Soundtouch (and other) wireless speakers. The Soundtouch app is able to play music by album or folder id. It does not play music however when a folder view contains the ">> Tag View" entry on top. I have activated trial licence and added "showExtras = false" to my profile and now I can browse through folders and select any folder id for playing. I would like to ask for some solution in starter edition. Could "showExtras" be supported by starter edition? Or could those >> entries be hidden by default? with kind regards from mick |

RE: Bose Soundtouch problems with >> Tag View
Starter Edition intentionally has very limited configurability. For the properties that are not configurable, Starter Edition uses default settings that have been the same in MinimServer for many years. Changing these defaults is not an option because of the disruption this would cause for existing users. Making more properties configurable in Starter Edition would reduce the value-add that users who purchase the full license are getting for their purchase.
The problem you have found with ">> Tag View" lines is likely to be caused by your control point not handling escaped '>' characters corrrectly in XML. If this problem can be fixed, you should be able to use Starter Edition to play music from folder view. |

RE: Bose Soundtouch problems with >> Tag View
I have enabled >> entries again. When I try to select any folder with a ">> Tag View" entry an error occurs in the speaker.
my telnet command: ext list 0$folders$f73$f81 response: Error in browsing container Error = 1647 When I select a folder without such an entry all plays fine. Obviously the Soundtouch firmware has a problem. Unfortunately I have not found any post with this error code (yet). Do you think it would be too generous to allow this one property in starter edition? |

Is this a command language provided by the Soundtouch? Is it documented anywhere? Quote:Do you think it would be too generous to allow this one property in starter edition? Do you think it would be too generous to pay a modest fee for the full feature set of what you have described as a fantastic product? |

RE: Bose Soundtouch problems with >> Tag View
The command I used can be found by searching for "finding-a-shell-in-a-bose-soundtouch" (I do not want to add the link here).
In the telnet session of my bose speaker I entered: "ext list container 0$folders$f73$f81" and received the error message. I have no problem paying a modest fee. But 38 GBP seems too expensive to me for the solution of my little problem. I will not use the streamer app or artist and folder images as listed under the additional options. thank you for your quick response |

RE: Bose Soundtouch problems with >> Tag View
The cost of a full license is GBP 28, not GBP 38. More features are coming soon.
Perhaps you can get Bose to fix their bug. This seems like the best solution. |

RE: Bose Soundtouch problems with >> Tag View
The next release of MinimServer will allow showExtras to be set to false in Starter Edition. As this a reduction in functionality from the default setting of true, it seems unreasonable not to allow it.

RE: Bose Soundtouch problems with >> Tag View
MinimServer 2.1 has now been released and allows you to set showExtras to false when running Starter Edition.
