Deleting /editing playlists
I have been having lots of errors associated with playliosts that I have generated
I got myself it bit of a mess and I think messed up the cache in Minimserver I am now doing a full scan to solve the issues - I hope My questions/Issues are these 1. If I delete a playlist - it seems that Minimserver does not always remove it from the cache - and then this can cause subsequent later errors and gives confusing messages in the log 2. I am also not convinced that Minimserver sees that I have changed a specific playlist - eventhough the date stamp has changed 3. I have created a lot of playlists and some have many tracks > 1000 - this seems to slow down Minimserver when it does an update - because it is checking all the files and folders to see if they exist - is it possible to switch this check off ? Many thanks Mike |

RE: Deleting /editing playlists
I presume you are referring to .m3u playlists held on the server, not playlists created in your control point. These playlists are deleted when you delete the .m3u file and do a MinimServer rescan (not a restart). The rescan also removes the deleted playlist from the cache. Can you give an example of the errors and confusing messages you are seeing?
When you do a rescan (not a restart), MinimServer checks the modification date of the playlist and rereads the .m3u file if this date (or the file size) has changed. It does take quite a long time for MinimServer to resolve playlist entries while doing a rescan or restart. This happens on every rescan or restart even if the playlist has not changed. I am hoping to improve this in a future version of MinimServer. |

RE: Deleting /editing playlists
Hi Simon
Things seem to be OK again - no errors with my playlists and editing and saving seems good The only issue is that folders with a leading space get flagged as an error - easy solution for me - but thought you should know eg - both cases the folder exists and the error disappears after I remove the leading space Error: playlist Playlists/1990s-Rock/1990s-Rock.m3u: unknown folder for ../../Rock/Jimi Hendrix/ Best of Jimi Hendrix - 1999(lossless)/13 - Crosstown Traffic.flac Error: playlist Playlists/16th-NotPlayed/16th-NotPlayed.m3u: unknown folder for ../../Medieval/Gabrielli/ San Marco di Venezia - Les Traversees Baroques, Meyer/01 - Giovanni Gabrieli- Confitebor Tibi Domine.flac Many thanks for the help and great app Mike |

RE: Deleting /editing playlists
Thank you for letting me know about the leading space issue. I have confirmed this and I am thinking about the best way to fix it without possibly causing problems for other users. In this context, it would be helpful for me to know why you have named some folders with a leading space. Many thanks.

RE: Deleting /editing playlists
It was an accident so I think you are pretty safe not fixing it
I have renamed the two folders and I am error free Just thought you should know in case it highlighted other issues |

RE: Deleting /editing playlists
It does highlight other issues. In particular, it also affects folder names with trailing spaces which would be harder to see and could produce unexpected results (not just for playlists) for no obvious reason.
I am working on a fix for both leading and trailing spaces and this should be in the next MinimServer update. Thanks very much for letting me know about this. |
