Configure MinimStreamer on QNAP to play NAS content as a steam
G'day,

I'm having all sorts of problems getting MinimStreamer to work on my QNAP NAS. I've now got Minimwatch working which is a major step forward as it has't been.

I'm trying to present a random library selection from my NAS as a stream to be consumed via a Bose Media player and a BluOS device.

Folowing one of the samples I've created the following "test" playlists. they showed on the Bose but not play Bose error "Can't play tracks with that audio format". The playlists were not visible to BluOS device.

I tried adding them as http://192.168.1.11:9790/minimstreamer/*/R1 as per your Playing BBC HLS radio streams on an internet radio in TuneIn but TuneIn did not recognise these.

The absolute path to my Music Folder on my QNAP is: /share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/Public/Shared%20Music with an alternate path as /share/Public/Shared Music. The BBC and Linn examples are both in a BBC Radio folder off Shared Music.

A sample of the play list that I've generated to ultimately be streamed is in the root folder (Shared Music) and is also attached. If you need to advise me on any structural defficiencies on this file then that would be appreciated.

Sorry if I've miss-understood how all this is suppose to work.

Thanks

Paul

RE: Configure MinimStreamer on QNAP to play NAS content as a steam
As I understand it, you want to play local files, not an internet radio stream. In this case, the information in "Playing BBC HLS radio streams on an internet radio" is not relevant to your situation.

Your random playlist is fine and you should be able to play it using a UPnP control point and a UPnP renderer.

Is your Bose/BluOS setup able to act as a UPnP renderer? For example, can you select an individual track from your MinimServer library and play it on the Bose/BluOS? When you do this, what do you use as the UPnP control point (the app that selects the track to be played)?

I don't think BlueSound can act as a UPnP renderer https://support1.bluesound.com/hc/en-us/...NP-support

Unfortunately this means it is not possible to play music from MinimServer to a BlueSound device.

Thanks for your response. I was hoping I could use MinimStreamer to get around this defficiency by using minimum streamer to:
  • present the play list as a URL
  • pick-up that URL in TuneIn
  • play the playlist through BluOS and BOSE

That's one of the reasons I was trying to get Streaming working, plus being on the other side of the globe, there is a regular international program it would have been convenient to record and play back later.

MinimServer/MinimStreamer can do recording and playback of this other radio stream but cannot act as a radio stream itself.

Some years ago a friend of mine uses as a workaround Google Chromcast Audio (2nd Gen) for his BlueSound.
This piece had a TOSLINK connection. The producion stopped 2019.
Chromcast 3 has HDMI. > and your bluesound?, may there are some alternatives.
