If I enable MinimStreamer transcoding from DSF to WAV, the tracks display in foobar2000 on Android. This might be what Emby is doing.

The description of foobar2000 for Android says this:
Supported audio formats: MP3, MP4, AAC, Vorbis, Opus, FLAC, WavPack, WAV, AIFF, Musepack.

In order to make this work as you want, you will need to use a different control point such as BubbleUPnP.

Do I install BubbleUPnP on the Nvidia Shield (Android TV) only, Windows 10 MM server only, or both? I attempted to read through this on the Bubblesoft site and was unsuccessful. Thanks.

There is BubbleUPnP (a UPnP control point for Android phones and tablets) and BubbleUPnP Server (a UPnP server and renderer for a number of platforms such as Windows, Mac, Linux, NAS). This similarity of these names is a source of confusion. You need the BubbleUPnP control point.

Where do I install the software? On the Android device only? My planned MM server is on a Windows 10 PC.

To start with, just install BubbleUPnP (the control point app) on an Android phone or tablet. The other part can be left until later and you might not need it at all.

Simon thanks for your help over and above. I installed what appears to be the only BubbleUPnp app on my phone. The app works as it should in displaying artwork and dsf tracks. I can play the tracks as well (I did not know it provided player function). Also, be aware that the same app is not available via the Play Store for the Shield. An apk has to be separately downloaded and installed. Cheers.

I'm having similar issues with my Denon (X3600H), in the folders that are DSF/DSD they show up as empty. I was using HEOS to directly to Minim Server; this method worked when I host via UniversalMediaServer. I'm currently just running the trial/starter edition, could this be the reason? Or do i need a "control point app" too?

The trial version has identical functionality to the full version, so this is not the issue.

If you have an Android device, try installing the BubbleUPnP app to see if this shows the missing files.

Unforently, i don't i have only Windows, iPhones/iPads and AVR & BluRay player. But when i'm on iPhone via VLC media player i do see the files.

I don't see errors/warnings in the server logs and i know both the AVR & BluRay are capable of playing these files/formats natively.

In UMS i did have to create a custom renderer config file, so it kind of feels like a similar issue where the server/player don't "agree" on the capabilities or maybe i missed a dependency library when i installed.

You might need to change the MIME type that MinimServer is sending for DSF files to match what HEOS or the Denon is expecting. See the Custom MIME types section for more information. You could try setting the mimeType.dsf option to audio/dsd or audio/x-dsd.

Ok i finally got around to addressing this and yes this fixed it. I added
>prop serverOptions=mimeType.dsf=audio/x-dsd

took a bit to figure out both how to and the syntax. I think i could of also added to the profile file, under the product directory. Nice to hear my HiRes music again.
