MinimServer 2 license updates extension now available for purchase
Your MinimServer 2 full license does not expire, so you can continue to use MinimServer 2 indefinitely. After 12 months, if you want to continue to receive updates and use MinimStreamer, you need to purchase a license updates extension.
This extension is now available for purchase. It extends the expiry date for updates and MinimStreamer until 12 months after you purchase the extension or until 12 months after your current license expiry date for updates and MinimStreamer, whichever is later. For example, if you purchased a MinimServer 2 full license in March 2020 and you purchase a license updates extension in January 2021, your expiry date for updates and MinimStreamer will be extended from March 2021 to March 2022. If you purchased a MinimServer 2 full license in January 2020 and you wait until March 2021 to purchase a license updates extension, you will not be able to install updates or use MinimStreamer between January 2021 and March 2021. After you have purchased the license updates extension, your expiry date for updates and MinimStreamer will be extended to March 2022. To purchase a license updates extension, visit this page. In the 'License type' pulldown, select 'Extend updates and MinimStreamer' and complete checkout and payment. Your new expiry date for updates and MinimStreamer will be activated automatically when you next restart MinimServer. Purchases made before 1st January 2021 will not be subject to EU VAT. After this date, EU VAT will apply for EU purchases (see this post). It will soon be possible to set up a subscription payment so that your license for updates and MinimStreamer is automatically renewed every 12 months unless you cancel your subscription payment before the renewal date. If you cancel your subscription, your entitlement to receive updates and use MinimStreamer will continue until the scheduled expiry date, with no option to receive a refund. |

RE: MinimServer 2 license updates extension now available for purchase
Simon,
I have extended my license. There appears to be a discrepancy in the display of the end date between the License Tab of the web MinimServer page and the "information about MinimServer licensing page". The latter shows the correct information, the former shows the unextended date. Screen shots below: |

Simon
Just tried to purchase a licence update using the above link but all I get is purchase of a new licence. How do I buy an update to an existing licence? System: ALAC iTunes library on Synology DS923+ (running MinimServer) > NetGear router > Optical isolation > dCS Network Bridge (controlled by Galaxy Tab S2 tablet running BubbleUPnP&Mosaic) > PS Audio DirectStream DAC > Primare A60 > Harbeth SHL5plus 40th Anniversary model |

If you are not seeing this option, you are looking at an older version of the page and you might need to refresh the page in your browser. |

Out of interest, if I allow a licence to expire so I no longer receive updates but can still use the product, does it continue to be available to extend/re-activate at any time? Or is there a point after which you can no longer extend/re-activate and your only option for new updates is to purchase a new licence? |

I have thought about imposing a time limit as you are describing. This could be done with a hard cutoff date for the extension purchase or by increasing the cost of the extension after some period of time. I think it is fair to allow a "grace period" for the extension purchase of up to 3 months beyond the expiry date without extra charge. If someone misses the renewal date by a few days or even a few weeks, it would be unreasonable to charge the full cost of a new license. My intention is to monitor what happens in practice to see if some limit to the "grace period" is needed. If most people extend before the 12-month term or shortly afterwards, I would see no need to limit the "grace period". If a large number of people don't extend within 3 months of the initial 12-month term, I might change the terms of the extension purchase to add a cut-off date. In this event, everyone in this situation would be given notice of the change and would have a reasonable time (probably 30 days) to purchase the extension at the regular price. |

The updates and MinimStreamer expiry dates on the License tab of the MinimServer configuration page should now match what it says on the minimworld.com 'License details' page. Thanks very much for letting me know about this. |

RE: MinimServer 2 license updates extension now available for purchase
A quick question. Was out of the loop at the time of this thread (just got out of the hospital) so I missed some of the stuff. I use Minimserver on my Synology DS716+ with my Lumin U1 in the main system primarily. I do have JRiver on a couple of secondary systems that gets the library from Minimserver on the NAS.
My NAS has prompted me about a Minimserver upgrade in the past week (the rest of the software on the NAS is up-to-date). If I purchase a Minimserver 2 license (just want to be able to use Minimserver and I guess I could play around with installing it on a small fanless Windows 10 PC in one secondary system where the DAC only does 192kHz and I have files above that - for now I have JRiver on it transcoding files or I have an Oppo 103D in the system where I can play everything up to single rate DSD via the network) will I need to do anything additional or upon start-up of my Lumin App on my iPad will I just continue to be able to use it as I did the day before? Everything works great now (and have been using it for over 4 years). I just helped a friend install Minimserver on his Synology NAS a month or so ago and he gets the same prompt on his Synology. So he's in the same boat (and not registered here - so he's waiting for me). Thanks Main System - Lumin U2, Modwright LS36.5 DM Preamp, VTV Purifi w/tube input bufferAmp, EMM Labs DAC 2X (ver. 2), Torus RM-20, Thiel CS 3.7s, 2 Rel S/812 subs |
