Hama IR200 interoperability issue
Hi Simon,
I recently got a Hama IR200 internet radio. This is a lower-end device which claims to be UPnP capable. I tried browsing MinimServer from the radio's native menu and experienced the following two problems: 1) Some albums are shown incomplete. These means e.g. that for an album with 33 tracks there may be shown just two tracks. However, most of the albums are shown complete. I haven't found a pattern for this problem to occur, but it is reproducible in that always the same albums are shown incomplete. The attached file incompleteAlbum.log contains a trace log when browsing such an album. 2) When opening some containers, the device hangs up completely and only after a power cycle it will work again. I haven't yet found a pattern for this either, but it is also reproducible in that this happens always for the same containers. Most of the containers work fine. The file hang.log contains a MinimServer trace log for issuing such a hang-up. These problems do not appear when browsing the native Synology Media Server or when brwosing a MinimServer proxy created by BubbleUPnP Server. From the above link the source of the device's firmware can be downloaded, maybe it helps. If you want to investigate this, please let me know how I can help you further. Best regards, winxi |

The last response contained data for 344 items, so it's very hard to find out which of these items is causing the problem. Is it possible to reproduce this with a smaller container that contains only a few items? |

RE: Hama IR200 interoperability issue
Sorry for the late reply, I'm quite busy these days.

E.g., for this album there are only shown the first two tracks. When I delete the first n tracks of this album from my library, it will still show just two tracks, namely track n+1 and track n+2. I tried different things quite some time and found out that when I delete some tags from all the album tracks, the Hama will show the full album. Please see the attachment for the details gathered from Kinsky for one sample track. Both these details were gathered when browsing MinimServer, one time with all the original tags and the second time with deleted tags. I will keep investigating this. Thanks! |

I have found three differences between the track that works (deleted tags) and the track that doesn't work: 1) The track that works has no <upnp:genre> tag 2) The track that works has no <dc:date> tag 3) The track that works has an ID3v2.4 tag for album art (instead of ID3v2.3) None of these should be significant, but it's just possible that 3) may be relevant. Can you post the XML data from either the Synology media server or the BubbleUPnP Server proxy, for the case where tags haven't been deleted? |

The MinimServer tracks have very large embedded album art images, and the proxy and Synology media server tracks have small thumbnails. It's possible that the large images are causing the Hama to exceed its available resources. By deleting some tags, you have slightly reduced the resources that the Hama needs to load the album's contents, even though the large images are still present. Please try removing the embedded images or replacing them by thumbnail versions, and not deleting any tags. Does this allow the Hama to show the complete album served by MinimServer? |

Please can you do the following: 1) Set all images in the test album to 160x160 2) Power off the Hama 3) Restart MinimServer 4) In the log window, set the logging level to Trace 5) Power on the Hama and browse to the contents of the test album in the minimum number of steps 6) In the log window, press 'Save as' to save the log file 7) In the log window, set the logging level back to Info 8) Zip the log file and attach it here Many thanks for all your help with this! |
