Fine tuning configuration
Hello,
I eventually decided to understand the various options on Minimserver and I am struggling with few concepts. In the documentation it is stated that to sort an artist index by Artistsort the syntax is: "Artist.value.sort={ArtistSort}". However browsing through the forum I could find "Artist.value.index.sort={ArtistSort}" What is the difference between the two? I tried to create an album index ordered by artist and date with the following option. "Album.sortTags={Artist,Date}". It did not work (I could see the index but sorted by album name). Then I simplified with "Album.sortTags={+Date}" which did not change anything. So I am missing something... Eventually, is it possible to create an index based on last added albums ? Thank you in advance for your help |

RE: Fine tuning configuration
Which control point are you using? Some control points don't use the sort order sent by MinimServer but use their own sort order instead.
Each tag value can also have a sort value and/or an index value. The index value controls what appears in each index entry. The sort value controls the order in which the index entries appear. After making any changes to the sortTags settings you need to restart MinimServer and you might also need to restart your control point. |

If the tag is present and let's assume it's called Date, you simply need to add Date to the indexTags property. Refer to the indexTags section of the User guide. |

I found the other discussion where you were talking about adding a "recently added" tag I probably answered too quickly as I did not notice your question was focused on my last request. If I have a date tag, I do not have yet anything that represents the date when the album has been added in the set. As you stated in your other thread, they are control points that bring in such view. The one I have in mind, does not and I wonder if that was already possible directly from Minimserver (it could use file "modified date" or something like that with obviously some caveats but...). Based on your other discussion and proposal, I guess it is not possible. |

The LUMIN app uses its own sort order unless you use "folder view" (not really folder view). Quote:So index will change only the display while sort would impact the order ? Yes, unless the control point is using the index display value as the sort order. When you tried setting Album.sortTags, were you looking at the "n albums" list or some other Album index? This setting only affects the "n albums" list. MinimServer does not yet support "last added". |

So more or less it is useless to create an Album index as it is by default proposed via "n albums" view ? |

RE: Fine tuning configuration
Yes, I recommend using the default "n albums".
