MinimWatch doesn’t seem to be connecting to MinimServer 2 (on Synology NAS)
I’ve just upgraded to MinimServer 2 for my Synology NAS and at same time installed MinimWatch 2 on a Windows 10 PC. The MinimServer status page informs that it's running correctly, yet MinimWatch doesn’t seem to connect to it – its icon is coloured grey and the MinimWatch log comprises repeated entries stating: “Retrying monitor subscription for server at 192.168.1.##:9791”

RE: MinimWatch doesn’t seem to be connecting to MinimServer 2 (on Synology NAS)
The "retrying subscription" message means that a firewall on your Windows PC is blocking MinimWatch. You need to enable inbound connections to Java for private networks and make sure that your network is being recognised by Windows as private, not public.

RE: MinimWatch doesn’t seem to be connecting to MinimServer 2 (on Synology NAS)
Many thanks for promptly getting back to me Simon, with a solution for my issue. I had recently upgraded to the latest version of Java, yet the inbound firewall rule named 'Java Platform' hadn’t been modified to reflect this – as soon as this was rectified MinimWatch started working.

This is an extremely irritating "feature" of Java for Windows. When I get an opportunity, I will experiment with ideas for solving it.
