RE: music view on a Mac
simon....i did try the wav24 and it does seem to be better...i am having a problem with the album and track #'s that i see in Elyric with Minim. Elyric is showing 2 -3 or even 4 of the same albums in all areas..'artists'''genres..etc with 3 duplicates of the tracks within each album..this is really a pain. i hate to delete all my music and start over again with the ripping ...i tried to look up my music in the 'downloads' but it is almost impossible to see where the problem is.ANY SUGGESTIONS..?i have deleted EMM from my computer so i only have Minimserver on it. by the way ..the Minim icon still vanishes when i turn my computer off in spite of doing what you suggested..dave..help me fix this and i will send another nice donation. i really do like your program but all the duplication is a mess...thanks..dave

I'm not familiar with K2 or SHM, but I'm glad this has solved the problem. Smile

Quote:.if i download the Linn 'Kinsky' on my IMac other then allowing me to present my downloaded music in a better format, on my computer, how will it help me with my music played through my audio system.?

It would let you use your computer to browse your library and select music to play through your audio system.

Quote:..when i started my computer tonight i had to click on the downloaded file in my downloads to get the 'minim ' icon to populate my tool bar. is that something i will have to do every time i start my computer or is there a way i can keep the icon at the top of my home page..?

If you're using Mac OS X Lion or Mountain Lion, you can leave MinimServer running when you shut down the computer and select the "Reopen windows when logging back in" option from the shutdown pop-up. When you restart the computer, MinimServer will be restarted automatically.

Quote:.sorry about so many questions..i love the program and i want to learn how to best avail myself of all that it has to offer. i have a friend that will be downloading it either saturday or sunday this week.by the way..i like to sound of the music on Minim better than EMM...

I'm not sure why the sound would be better. Some people have found the sound is better when they set the 'transcode' property to 'wav' or 'wav24'. Have you done this, or is the 'transcode' property field blank?

I think the best place to start with solving this problem is for you to install Kinsky on your Mac and use Kinsky to browse your library. This will show whether the problem is caused by something about the way your library is organized or whether it's related to using eLyric. You don't need to use Kinsky to play music, just to browse the library.

If you see the same problem when browsing with Kinsky, please attach some Kinsky screenshots here showing the problem.

Here's another (better) way to do it:

1) Drag the MinimServer icon into your Applications folder
2) Open System Preferences from the Apple icon in the menu bar
3) Select Users and Groups
4) Select Login Items
5) Click the '+' button
6) A window will open showing you the contents of your Applications folder. Select MinimServer and click Add.
7) This will put MinimServer in the list of items to open automatically when you log in. Leave the box to the left of MinimServer unchecked.
8) When you login, MinimServer will start automatically.

I think the problem with the other approach may have been that MinimServer wasn't in your Applications folder (step 1). In any case, this way is better.

RE: music view on a Mac
i have fixed the problem of the icon not showing up everytime..as for Kinsky....the layout of my albums within different genres...composers...or whatever way it can be presented within the program is the same . there are 3 or 4 duplicates of most every album i have downloaded within every section.i did download a soundtrack cd this am that i had not downloaded before and it did show up as only 1 album without duplicates...would it help to delete all my itunes downloads and start again with another ripper..?.. if so..which one do you think is best..i do not want to continue with the current situatiion of seeing so many duplicates...?..dave

Please post some screenshots that show the problem. When I see these, I will be able to give some advice on how to solve it.
